While preparing their first Thanksgiving together, Grayson fails to convince Jules hugging everybody is over-demonstrative. She stresses over his inability to return an 'I love you', he over bumping into his ex, whom he wants to show he now has a full life. Bobby is insulted when the girls point out nobody understands his mumbling. The boys try to assure him they still get the zest. Travis's equally unintelligible room-mate Kevin convinces him their acceptance is priceless. Grayson puts everyone off balance by giving Jules her bouquet on the day before Valentine's, which he considers tacky. Travis has to 'make up' by posing for a sexy photo for Kirsten, which proves a crucible of embarrassment. Jules cruelly presses Grayson to 'open up' and show emotions, preferably in tears, regardless which wounds she must rip open to this end. Ellie's bitching extends to vandalizing 'late' Christmas decoration and rudely declining a dinner, so Andy takes much gratefuller Bobby, who also obliges Laurie in a restaurant dumpee-scam. Bobby can play at his dream links if he turns up early, so Travis decides his canine counterpart isn't enough waking up help. Jules waives Ellie's claim minding a baby is much harder over 40, even with a nanny, thus gets stuck babysitting Stan but shamelessly dumps the work on Grayson, who proves surprisingly, even scarily paternally. Bobby finally can enter a professional golf tournament again, but Andy's wacky caddy and general assistance is a liability, so Travis accepts to take charge on the links. Jealous of the others doing some charity work, Jules volunteers at an elementary school, only to embarrass herself with a mutilated rendition of the pledge to the flag. Grayson is right to mistrust Laurie's 'proof' not to be an airhead bimbo by beating him and Ellie in a trivia game, as Travis cues her by phone. Travis is eager to propose to Kirsten, so curious Jules strains herself spying, then gets Grayson to continue for her, but roommate Kevin blocks him off, although he only tries to spare the boy inevitable grief being turned down. Bragging she can still handle all conditions ends Jules up on Bobby's boat for a weekend. Bobby really bravely camps and showers on the beach. A 'secret council' is formed to hand out poetic justice. Travis is totally depressed after his wedding proposal ended in being dumped. Bobby stands up against Jules's childish mothering to insist on macho therapy by strip-club, with surprisingly enthusiastic support from her visiting father Chick. Grayson insists to join them on his Rollerblades, although those prove painful in both senses. Andy was looking forward to a visit from his brother Nestor, despite the reproachful urge to learn Spanish as befits Cubans, but Ellie spoils it, jealous of Nestor's wife hands-on liberality and mobilizes Laurie. Heartbroken, turned-down Travis shows no more interest in college or life in general, despite Bobby's gentle and Jules's bossy efforts to prod him. Bobby can make a fortune by selling his Penny Can concept to tycoon Roger Frank's corporation, as advised by Andy, but soon realizes that would mean seeing a cool; game 'professioanlly' turned into a soulless gadget with Barnum publicity. Double-length finale. (PART 1) Grayson's child-wish can't be denied, yet Jules still tries. Travis follows on a mindless idea from Laurie by traveling to Hawaii. Jules mobilizes the gang the check up in the guise of a group holiday. Since their Penny Can ventures made a fortune, Bobby and Andy are almost inseparable, to Ellie's envy.
