French policeman Louis Daniel now works for the International Criminal Court in The Hague and has put together a team of police officers from across Europe to deal with transnational crimes. He recruits former NYPD Sgt. Carl Hickman who left the force after being shot in the hand and under a cloud of suspicion. They are currently investigating a series of killings that they believe is the work of a serial killer. The first victim was in Rome 7 months ago, followed by similar deaths in Dublin, London and most recently, Paris. Hickman, who is in constant pain owing to his hand injury, blames himself for San's kidnapping. He soon realizes that it's the killer who bought the dead woman the shoes. They identify the dead woman as Sasha Quinn who lived in London and worked as an escort. Investigator Sienna Pride puts her superior interrogation skills to work when questioning a young French police cadet who may have seen the murderer. The information leads them to identify the killer and a police report tells them where he is going. The only question is whether they can stop him before he can kill San. The team investigates the death of a young red-headed woman who was found in a shallow grave on the autobahn near the German-Polish border. The Polish police subsequently found an abandoned car with strands of red hair that are a match for the victim. Sebastian Berger and Carl Hickman are dispatched to investigate and soon find a dumping ground with 7 additional corpses in various stages of decomposition. The team investigates the kidnapping of 19 year-old Maxim Marianski at a nightclub in Cannes. The crime has all of the earmarks of a professional job: the young man was kidnapped in a packed nightclub and his security guards were shot twice, once in the torso and once in the head. Also dead is Maxim's girlfriend. The victims father, Lev Marianski, is a rich Russian industrialist who had taken the precaution of taking out kidnap insurance on both his son and his ex-wife Caroline. The kidnappers deliver their ransom demand - EUR10 million - giving them only 10 hours to produce the money. They also explode a small bomb they had placed in in Maxime's home, giving credence to the theory that someone on the inside may be involved. The elder Marianski has to put together the money - he canceled the kidnap insurance some months before - and he doesn't have a lot of cash on hand. One of the kidnappers begins to have second thoughts about the operation, particularly over the fact that she killed Maxim's girlfriend during the snatch. In Florence, Eva makes a major discovery. Hickman finds himself in what appears to be a bank robbery when he goes to a major bank in The Hague. He knew something was was wrong and managed to contact the team before the robbers appeared. The leader is identified as Alex Vaughn, a criminal who recently broke out of prison. While incarcerated however, he was converted into a rabid anti-capitalist. Hickman soon comes to realize that the the robbers don't seem to plan on escaping - not through the front door at any rate. In fact, he realizes that this isn't a robbery at all. An Italian mafioso, Nicola Conti, sends his henchmen after two thieves who stole drugs and money from him and then took his daughter Angela as prisoner. The process of tracking them down has led to two mass shootings, one in Italy and the second just across the border in Slovenia. Michel Dorn's has little faith in Hickman, who is temporarily in charge, but agrees to let the team get involved. The experience is an eye opener for he young Angel. Hickman meanwhile follows up with the woman from the bank who identified him as a cop. He's certain she knows something about the account he was looking into. Hickman is unable to locate his friend Shari - until he receives a call from the Dutch police saying they've found a dead woman. He fears for the worse but it turns out to be someone else - Anika, the Dutch bank manager. Hickman is arrested for her murder but everyone, including the investigating officer, thinks it's all too pat and it's clear he is being framed. Sebastian's computer is hacked and he's traced it to the Italian police; Eva denies any involvement. When he tries to use his scanning equipment at the murder site, the software is affected by a virus. He's eventually released but the man he's been searching for, Vito Genovese, is waiting for him. Meanwhile, Anne-Marie is missing. She was helping her former partner close one of her old cases and now cannot be found. Eva and Sebastian set off searching for Anne-Marie who has been missing for two days. When the police find a burned out car by the side of the road, they fear the worse. Eva finds out who hacked Sebastian's equipment bur now faces a dilemma. Dorn learns that Louis and Rebecca's apartment has been trashed and they are both missing.
