At the funeral of uniformed officer Franklin Clark, a cleverly planned and detonated series of bombs would have killed many policemen hadn't Nick, who was hurt before and asked to leave by the family, spotted suspicious insect behavior. The bombs are traced to an anti-government society, including the McCann brothers. Nick talks sense into junior Jason. Yet a booby-trapped homeless corpse indicates the LVPD remains targeted. His hotel-room was ransacked in the casino which hosts a convention for 'vampires', like he and his bride Julie Crenshaw, whose 'family' was to attend the wedding the next day, and rivaling 'werewolves', like ex-con Kurt Francis's hostile pack. The whole team concentrates on the mysterious attacks of an intruder on rich homes of prominent Las Vegas citizens, known as philanthropists or heroes. They work out the criminal must be sort of a contortionist with a latex fetish. He stalked each victim long term, even taking up secret residence in their homes, and left clues indicating he objected to their honorable status, knowing some incriminating series. After stench complaints from the neighbors, the home of pathological hoarder Marta Santiago, who was ordered by the court to vacate the premises in a few days, helped by one daughter, it's searched. Nick's shoes become evidence by stepping into a terribly decomposing corpse, later identified as the missing other daughter. College boy Brian Lister fell to his death, backstage at night, on the teeth of one of Kyle Adams's Australian 'Walking With dinosaurs' firm's mechanical stars. His girlfriend and her other lover Travis Kilborn lie, trying to hide their biology classmates triangle. Wealthy Phil Kohner was murdered at home. The main item missing was his favorite wrist watch, a gift by his lover, the mother of the girl who was his daughter's buddy until both were killed by Eli Holt, who is still in jail and never divulged the whereabouts of the girls' corpses, one of which is now found. The remains of a corpse found in a specialized firm's professional giant shredding unit is identified from the fragments of a credit card he was made to eat as part of sadistic torture. It turns out the ID was stolen from Larry Lamotte, CEO of a company Greg signed up with for identity theft prevention. In desert town Cable Springs, skinny dipping teenagers are surprised by the corpse of local petty rancher Walter Burns. He was dumped after drowning elsewhere. the only car traces lead to the corpse in Las Vegas of natural gas company Conservo's engineer Richard Adams, who was hot and hidden in a dumpster. the trail leads back to Burns' neighbor Bill Gibson, who commits suicide in a spectacularly surprising way, desperate because of extreme pollution, most likely the result of Conservo's 'fracking'. Detective Vartann is unsettled to learn lover Catherine never told him she inherited a lucrative share in a casino. It's the murder site where handsome Brad Malone fell to his death, boxers only. Nick's team works out Brad had motives for a suicide, but left no note and fell from the suite next door, where he and a night club barman had sex with the best friends who were 'celebrating' a divorce, yet lie about their debauchery. Greg's team is confused about the domestic deaths of couple, fatally hurting his during his shower while she fell on her breakfast kitchen knife. There was no intruder, only the clever parrot, who drove the ex-con neighbor nuts, and the bird's other mortal enemy, the cat, were home. Written by KGF Vissers

FBI sex offenders specialist Daniel Moore's wife Christine and Latino cart collector Hector are fatally shot in a grocery store parking lot, his small daughter Holly More is almost certainly kidnapped. Prime suspect is Rylan Gauss, convicted pedophile due to Moore but recently released after an evidence technicality retrial. The team works out Rylan couldn't have murdered Christine, who sued for sole custody over Holly and her big brother Trent, who is missing and has a psychiatric file. When a man is found by the roadside with oddly distributed burns, which ultimately kill him by infection, resulting from electrocution, Lagnston comes up with an amateur chair execution theory, soon confirmed by new, fatal victims. While road cameras help identify the truck they were dumped from, Greg solves the mystery that they have nothing in common, thanks to his knowledge of early mob-controlled las Vegas. Dr. Lambert, director of the Gilbert Institute for the deaf, is killed by a bomb in his sports car, driving home after a benefit attended there by Gil's mother Betty and wife Sarah. The team soon suspects it's about a $500,000 grant to be awarded by a jury chaired by Betty's protégé, professor Julia Holden, who becomes the fatal victim of an indoor bomb. The ashes in his mouth are from another, cremated corpse. The team finds widow occurs in several twisted relationships between those households. Serial killer Nate Haskell is finally on trial and fires his appointed attorney to plead his own defense, a controversial genetic defect, ignoring Langston has the same mutation. The team expects bloody murder after Nate's escape, but in stead two 'corpses' seem resurrected, in Max Ferris's case even during 'autopsy'. The crucial factor is a natural toxins combination, not unlike voodoo-zombie-powder. Vance Tolsom, convicted for the murder of his wife Anne-Marie, née Cambry, also LVPD, whose corpse was never found, is beaten to death in what appears a racial prison gangs fight. Main culprit Tomas Molinez admits it was staged as a favor for someone outside. Vance was preparing a retrial and Nick finds his list of people his wife had affairs with, mainly other cops. A male corpse found in a cattle farmer's stable manure pile without hands besides female hands severed with similar skill is probably San Diego plastic surgeon Kole. The team fears Nate Haskell killed him and his nurse after getting a thus untraceable new identity, but it turns out there's another victim, a patient, and at least one more killer. Meanwhile wealthy Avery Tinsdale and his wife report, with suspicious delay, a ransom demand video for their estranged daughter Vivian from Haskell, but she's one of his brides and the delivery goes wrong, probably thus planned, and Avery's computer discloses a nasty blackmail history. LAPD detective Daniel Sosa grudgingly hosts Langston's 'Nate experts' task force in his city, but truly appreciates and accommodates their input in evaluating a series of murders fitting Haskel's MO. The team learns he didn't have plastic surgery after all. Langston is dragged along, against his better judgment, in Nate's trap with his ex wife as bait after her new groom is butchered. Farmer Arvin Thorpe is found murdered at home by Nate, who is identified as his biological son Warren, and fell to his death after a struggle with Langston, who thus liberated his ex Gloria. Nick, Greg and Sara unearth evidence that Nate turned sadist while Arvid abused him and his mother, who is among a series of clandestine graves on the farm, and where he stole the Haskel identity.
