Leo Vincent is a successful chef, who has stolen most of his recipes from ex-wife Gina Benelli, whom he cuckolded for years with second spouse Sam. Now Sam is convinced he is having an affair and he is - with Gina. Gina has another problem with rebellious daughter Teresa, who is allergic to water, but things come to a head at a party for Sam and Leo's son Michael's eighteenth birthday party, when Sam learns the truth and reacts angrily. Following Leo's suicide Gina is troubled by Theresa's continued bulimia though unaware that Michael has made a pass at her. Sam is amazed to learn that Leo wanted a Sicilian funeral with Gina's family recipes to be served as the buffet and the rift between the women is not helped by Gina being asked to organize a Sicilian funeral. Michael is also unhappy at having to make the funeral oration and needs help from grandmother Mimi. A further shock awaits Sam at the will reading when she learns that due to Leo's considerable debts she will be left with nothing whilst Gina inherits the hotel, which Leo put in her name for tax purposes. As Gina takes possession of the hotel Mimi, Sam and Michael face not only possible homelessness but smug DI Hicks, who suggests that Sam helped Leo in his tax frauds. Gina falls out with Sam's doctor friend Rosa, for treating Teresa behind her back and cancels her wedding reception but on learning that the hotel is losing money and desperately needs to host it, relents and, helped by Sam and the family, the day is a success with Gina and Sam seemingly bonding. Michael suspects - rightly - that Leo did not intend to kill himself, only to make Sam feel sorry for him, but accidentally over-dosed and confides his opinion in Teresa. Later, sheltering from a rain-storm the pair resume their relationship whilst Gina has an unwelcome visitor from her past. Written by don @ minifie-1

A suspicious Sam gets Michael to confess his affair with Teresa, whom she blames and attacks in the street. Teresa is saved by the intervention of James Harley, Teresa's less than welcome visitor, who publicly admits that he is Teresa's father, leading to her attempting suicide. Whilst unconscious she dreams about meeting Leo in the after life - which seems to give her the strength to recover. Michael decides to move on - literally - after reconciling with his mother but it is Mimi whose return from a mysterious trip to Switzerland provides the solution to everybody's problems.
