But a few are open to the idea. Later, Officer Dave Roberts, also African-American, is rethinking returning to duty after being badly wounded during a robbery. Relations with his neighbors have soured and he thinks it's affecting him on the job. Friday and Gannon try to talk him out of resigning. Roberts left things up in the air. A few days later, Friday and Gannon are downtown when a call regarding a business disturbance comes over the radio. They are a few blocks away and decide to lend assistance. As it turns out Officer Roberts has responded to the call and is sorting things out on his own as Friday and Gannon observe.
