For knocking down a dangerously irresponsible Co colonel, he's banished home to a tiny US Army 'rear' base in Florida, where his hopelessly looser klutz brothers, adoring Randy and cynical lazy Derrick, happily escaped all war action. Pete refuses to be reduced to 'misions' like finding a lost pet dog, so he resolves to get his team of inept soldiers in shape for war games, even against dauntingly fit visiting Italians. Incessant, ostentatious hero-worship, especially from clingy Randy, and general familiarity in his platoon get too much for star veteran Pete, so he rents a mobile home just off base. Its basic quiet is soon disturbed as Randy and the others lay siege with a noisy party and bitter brotherly regrets. meanwhile the platoon must deal with irrational family anxiety about potholes, but the slightest veracity only fuels it further. The sergeant major is desperate to break the long line of utterly humiliating defeats with fitting loser punishments in the annual charity football match against the Marines team. The Army rear unit finally have a shot, as Pete has a great quarterback record, but an Afghan front shoulder shrapnel wound proves cruelly disabling, so he must train his ultimate losers team. Hell-bent on seducing a young mother, Derrick keeps making impossible promises to her and goes way overboard by suggesting he can make come true her angelic son Sam's ultimate birthday wish: the safe, early repatriation from Afghanistan of his daddy. Randy can only contribute groundless enthusiasm and the CO laughs the idea away, until Pete suggests it could be a PR coup, out-staging the Marines in the public's eyes. Written by KGF Vissers

Despite general ridicule, especially from his brothers, Pete convinces the rest of his platoon to 'cheerfully' work their tail off in sissy Rodney Spratz's base home and on building 'with' him a 'sports course' for his son Tim, who respects nobody while his mother is deployed in action.
