Benny fears she's going through menopause but when she goes to the doctor, finds out that in fact she has the gonorrhea. Meanwhile, Angie tries to get her parents to reconcile.

George lets a secret slip between the Powers brothers who then decide to split up the company, and each wants George to come work for them.

After the crash of an airplane built from parts made at George's factory, the nervous employees blame one another. An inspector interviews them and then closes the plant temporarily until it is determined what happened.

George invites Manny and his family to spend Thanksgiving with his family, and finds out he's the only possible match for a kidney transplant for his father.

George, who's preparing to give a kidney to his father, is in trouble with Angie because he threw away a box of her family mementos, but both their priorities shift when Benny delivers bad news: Manny has died.

After overhearing his parents planning to buy him the presents that he asked Santa Claus for, Max doubts the existence of Santa.

Max mouths off to Benny and she slaps him for it. George and Angie think she's overreacting until they learn Max has forged their signatures to cover up his failing in school.

When Ricky stays with the Lopez family, he and Max get into trouble repeatedly, and finally George decides to return him to his mother and finds out what environment Ricky's living in.

When Mr. Needles is found to be suffering from a large tumor, George contemplates putting the dog down, while Max prays for a miracle.

George interferes with Benny and Randy's relationship, causing Randy to break up with Benny. Benny starts to mope around so George goes to have a talk with Randy. George sees that Randy really does love his mother, so he tricks Benny into admitting she cares about Randy, but is just afraid he'll run off like George's father. Randy proposes and Benny accepts. George is presented with a major award and everybody congratulates him, except Benny. George has accepted that Benny never complimented him on anything in his life, until he hears her complimenting Randy on getting a new job.

George worries Carmen's growing up too fast when she pushes to get her driver's license and to spend prom night in a hotel room with Jason.

Max is excited about the Lopez family's trip to Disneyland, but George refuses to go because it reminds him of his deprived childhood. However, he becomes overwhelmed with guilt that he is not sharing the fun with his son.

As wedding plans progress for Benny and Randy, clumsy factory worker Amy, returns from six months in the hospital and tries to win Randy back.
