After he and his assistant Soojin have an argument resulting in her quitting/he firing her, Booth asks Marnie to take what was supposed to be Soojin's place in co-hosting a party with him. Marnie sees this as a big step in their relationship as it will be the first big event they will host as a couple. A post-party discussion between the two reveals Booth's perspective. As Hannah doesn't want to see Adam, Ray has to go to Adam's himself to retrieve a book of his that Hannah left there. Ray and Adam end up focusing on another joint mission, which gives them time to commiserate about dealing with the opposite sex. Hannah is offered an e-book deal. Hannah agrees to accompany Jessa upstate to visit Salvatore, Jessa's estranged father, by who she felt physically and emotionally abandoned, especially when she needed someone on her side when it was just her and her mother. This request by Salvatore to visit was just the latest in a long series, all others which Jessa declined. Upon their arrival, Hannah learns from Salvatore's new hippie wife, Petula, what she sees as Hannah's metaphysical purpose for accompanying Jessa on this trip, especially as she knows that Jessa does not like her. The trip does not end up quite as Jessa had thought it would, she and Hannah spending much of their time with Jessa's nineteen year old step-brother, Frank, and Frank's friend, Tyler. But a situation between Jessa and Salvatore and Hannah getting some alone time gives Hannah a better perspective of her own family situation. Written by Huggo

Many of Hannah's friends and acquaintances are at crossroads in their respective relationships. After their few sexual encounters, Marnie and Charlie will find out if they are indeed on the same page of what that sex actually means. Shoshanna isn't sure if she can handle Ray's negativity anymore - what he sees as his critical thinking - or if she can even tell him what she is feeling in the matter. Ray, on the other hand, takes indecisive action to be who he thinks he needs to be for Shoshanna. And after their one disastrous sexual encounter, Adam and Natalia get back on track with what Natalia is looking for in a boyfriend, but it may not be quite who Adam truly is as a person. Meanwhile, Hannah's life is spiraling downward out of control. David threatens to sue if she doesn't produce the pages for which she received her advance.
