In the season premiere, after a summer in New York, Zoe is ready to move permanently, but first she must return to BlueBell. Lemon has a plan to help out Wade in front of Zoe.

Lavon and AnnaBeth invite Zoe and Joel (JOSH COOKE) over for a quiet dinner, but when Lemon invites herself and Alabama's most eligible bachelor (RYAN McPARTLIN), things go awry.

Wade is relieved that Lemon's lie to be his lover got exposed, but she finds herself unable to accept Cricket taking over as less competent leader of the Belles, even mounts a failing rebellion and incurs a sentence to humiliating public chores. Brick counts on the clause in Zoe's contract to prevent her for a year opening a practice of her own, as he suspects she would, and hires the pharmacist as inept private eye to spy when she helps a patient. Tutor George really needs her discrete help when his reluctantly helpful hand gets painfully stuck in horny 'law pupil' Lynly's dress. Joel heroically 'volunteers' to divert them with false medical complaints, exposing him to more real pain. After a rough start with Lynly, George is pleasantly surprised when he learns they work well together.
