Erich Blunt finds himself before a new judge - something his lawyer David Hertzberg surreptitiously arranged - over whether his bail should be revoked after his little trip to Nevada. With the bail issue settled, Erich turns to convincing Warren Daniels to take him back as a client. He agrees, provided Erich takes a polygraph test. Meanwhile, English and Mulligan find a pretty big hole in Mark Strauss' alibi - a video showing he'd left the bar at least 2 hours. Bill Wilkerson's wife learns of his affair. Written by garykmcd

In San Francisco, police Inspectors Hildy Mulligan and Terry English investigate the murder of 50 year-old Kevin Neyers who is found in the cheap hotel where he lived, shot in the head. Two young boys say they saw a junkie there with a bird tattoo on his neck. The police also find a threatening email addressed to high tech entrepreneur Erich Blunt, CEO of Applsn, demanding $50,000 or Neyers will go public. Blunt denies ever having seen the email or knowing Neyers. The police however contact the parents of Neyers' old girlfriend, who died of a drug overdose some 22 years ago, and learn there is definitely a connection between Neyers and Blunt. Meanwhile, Blunt is dealing with a major lawsuit that accuses him of stealing someone's computer code. Both Hildy and Terry have complicated lives. Hildy is a divorced mom raising her daughter Louise. Terry's wife Emily has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and he is having trouble letting her go. Written by garykmcd

After spending the weekend in jail, Erich Blunt is arraigned for the murder of Cindy Strauss and her unborn fetus. He pleads not guilty and is released on $10 million bail. His lawyer, Warren Daniels, looks to put the blame on Cindy's ex-husband Mark. Jeremy Leonard tells Terry about his encounter with Erich over his lawsuit. Later, Jeremy takes a video of his nemesis at the Burning Man festival in Nevada. It all comes back to haunt Erich at his preliminary hearing. Meanwhile, Hildy is interviewed over the shooting. The dead man's widow denies her husband had a knife and threatened Hildy. D-Hop, who has clearly been manipulated by his mom's lawyer, agrees with her. The prosecution and defense lawyers make their opening statements in Erich Blunt's murder trial and the first witnesses are called. Daniels proceeds to put Cindy Strauss' husband on trial for her death. Terry visits Chris Walton in San Quentin to learn why he took the rap for Kevin Niers murder. Hildy takes Terry to task after he flattens two drunken loud-mouths in a bar. Hildy's ex-husband tells he's now been clean and sober for two years and hints at wanting to renew their relationship. Bill Wilkerson's meeting with his wife over their pending divorce doesn't go well. An unexpected death may have an impact on the trial. Written by garykmcd

Hildy and Terry investigate the death of Mark Strauss. A suicide note is found on his computer, but no one is convinced he killed himself. The judge allows the prosecution to make its case but is prepared to entertain a motion to dismiss the case if they don't make a pronouncement on the Strauss' death. Pilot Bill Wilkerson and his wife both take the stand and the defense suggests they could be the Cindy's killer - both deny it. The police interview Bill over Mark Strauss' death and he denies that as well. They do find evidence of someone being in Strauss' apartment. Hildy gives her testimony. Written by garykmcd
