Dentist Ben Harper is annoyed when both his wife Susan and their daughter Janey complain that he never has time to see them and that they are now seeing his rival Australian Mel Fraser. This causes an argument between the married couple, causing their younger son Michael - who has acquired a troublesome pet rabbit - to believe they are divorcing but Janey leaves Fraser, saying that he treats her like a child. Meanwhile older son Nick communicates with a French model on the Internet and invites her to the house. Ben reckons she is a fraud but gets a surprise on her arrival. Written by don @ minifie-1

Whilst Janey tries, unsuccessfully to persuade Susan to let her have a tattoo, Susan learns that Michael is being bullied at school by a boy called Jason Hodder. She decides to discuss it with his parents but on calling on them finds that an enraged Ben has been pursuing them with a rolled up magazine. After Michael has come home covered in custard and, next day, is extremely late in returning home, Susan fears the worst but discovers that it is because he and Janey have beaten Hodder up. Ben is less than pleased when Susan announces that she has tickets for 'Don Giovanni' and, after listening to a tape of it, refuses to go. At the surgery he gets into conversation with his patient Lord Whitten, whose son is looking for a girlfriend so Ben suggests he dates Janey. Janey is initially displeased until she sees a picture of Young Whitten in 'Hello!' magazine and goes out with him. However after she complains that he sexually assaulted her Ben gets revenge when the lad comes in for dental treatment. Written by don @ minifie-1

Ben is not sure what to do for Susan's birthday so Janey suggests he takes her to the hotel where they spent their honeymoon. They duly go and find it is just as awful as it was twenty years ago added to which they are pestered by an elderly couple into partner-swapping. Apart from wanting to become a stripper Nick also wants to be a landlord and shows a perfect stranger around the house. Added to this an attempt to steal Ben's nurse Brigitte's van and Susan becomes obsessed with security so Ben buys a burglar alarm. Unfortunately he opts to buy the cheapest one on offer, which keeps malfunctioning and causes him a sleepless night as he keeps turning it off and trying to get back to bed without setting it off again. When a Chinese businessman in tour guide Susan's party suddenly drops dead in Madame Tussaud's Susan begins to worry about Ben's mortality - as indeed does he after a chat to the vicar. This gives Nick the opportunity to bring would-be girlfriend and insurance salesperson Emily to the house to sell Ben a policy. Ben agrees, in the hopes that it will encourage Nick to move out but Susan has already got him a policy. Written by don @ minifie-1

Whilst Janey defies Susan by buying an expensive pair of jeans Michael is going on his first date and Nick sees himself as the perfect giver of advice. He also sees himself as the perfect mender of Ben's chair despite Ben's telling him not to touch it as he broke it.
