Morrison still tries to find out what is wrong with Terence O'Casey and is frantic as to where his son is. We also get to see how in 1936 Westphall whole family was killed in an accident. And in 1945 Westphall was so unruly that Father McCabe resorts to an unusual tactic to straighten him out. Also Auschlander arrives and has to deal with anti-Semitism and meets the woman whom he would later marry. Also O'Casey's parents come to visit their new born daughter who is sick. And in 1956 Craig a resident who was acting like Ehrlich was learning under the eye of Dr. Domedion. And McCabe learns that the hospital is being turned over to city so he is being relieved of his duties as hospital administrator. And the O'Casey's daughter is in critical condition. Marina, the sister of the male malnutrition patient from the previous episode, goes to work as housekeeper for the Westphall family and to care for Tommy. Although there is a language barrier, Marina bonds with the child. Lizzy has to rush Marina to St. Eligius. With Dr. Morrison as translator, he and Dr. Westphall learn about Marina's past in El Salvador, where the Communists tortured and abused her. Dr. Westphall is determined to help her. Meanwhile, nasty Nurse Lucy pushes Nurse Helen over the edge with her vicious talk. Simultaneously Nurse Lucy encourages a depressed Dr. Caldwell and trades sexual innuendo with him. Already angry at Nurse Helen, the nasty nurse reports Dr. Caldwell to Dr. Auschlander claiming sexual harassment. Dr. Caldwell is called on the carpet. Written by LA-Lawyer

There is a citywide blackout in Boston and St. Eligius is hit hard. The so-called back up generator does not start automatically and this endangers surgery. Therefore, the Drs. Auschlander and Craig decide to turn off power for all unnecessary parts of the hospital, including the elevators. Mrs. Auschlander heads a program where a group of children visit Santa Claus at St. Eligius. St. Nick has a heart attack, but not until the Auschlanders' grandson calls the old guy a fraud. The doctors all swap Christmas gifts and cheer except for Dr. Erlich; Dr. Fiscus claims he is incapable of being a friend and therefore, cannot have friends. Dr. and Mrs. Craig host a Wassail party; the Westphalls celebrate at home. The time of year causes a lot of grief and emotion to fester and brew. Dr. Chandler decides to do his volunteer work at the Boston Women's Clinic where protestors caused criminal damage and were impeding the operation of the clinic. The young mentally challenged girl, Pru, is scheduled for an abortion at St. Eligius; Dr. Morrison is unwilling to perform his job as her attending physician because of his personal beliefs. Luckily, Dr. Erlich is set to perform the abortion. A bomb explodes at Boston Women's Clinic; no one knows if Dr. Chandler survived. When their patients are brought to St. Eligius, Dr. Auschlander receives a telephone bomb threat. Dr. Fiscus rues his proposal to Mona; Marina has her INS hearing. Written by LA-Lawyer

This landmark episode features Dr. Bobby Caldwell, the playboy plastic surgeon. He consults his old classmate, now the Chief of plastics at Boston General, to repair the facial scar left by the girl at the Cape. The pre-surgical blood work reveals Bobby has antibodies for the AIDS virus. Clancey and Dr. Fiscus throw a birthday party for Dr. Morrison; it is a festival of flirting and pie-flinging. Finally, the tired matriarch of the prominent and wealthy Endicott family is persuaded to have surgery with Dr. Craig. It's the hospital's 50th anniversary. Morrison has a patient whom he has trouble diagnosing. And we take a look at some the things that took place at the hospital over the years. Like in 1936 when the hospital first opened, Father Joseph McCabe, the founder and administrator, dealing with the archdiocese over some of his practices. In 1966 when Helen, newly arrived from England starts at the hospital and she helps with Morrison's patient who overdosed on LSD. And Craig being offered the Chief of Surgery after being passed over at Boston General and not getting the compensation he thinks he deserves.
