In this very first episode we get to know Alex, Bobby, Tony, Latka, Elaine and Louie. While Bobby and Tony make calls for free to places all around the world, Alex tells everyone that he has a daughter he once abandoned and hasn't seen for 15 years. The guys convince him to call his daughter and he finally does. Elaine starts her part-time job as a cab driver and gets to know the boys. Latka tries to improve his English, with the help of Alex. Tony gets a chance to spar with a world champion. And when he knocks the man down, he gets a bout with a ranked fighter. Everyone but Louie supports him. But before the fight he learns what really happened between him and the champ.

Alex goes on a blind date with Angela, whose name he only knows from the phone. When Alex and Angela meet, Angela, who seems to be experienced on blind dates, acts as if she had been disappointed a lot by men. This is mainly due to the fact that she is not looking like most men expect, but Alex seems to have no real problem with it. Latka finds $2000 in the back seat of one of the cabs and the crew does not know if they should return it or not. Suddenly, the boys show up during Alex's date with Angela. Written by sssss

With only 24 hours before the deadline, Bobby goes on any audition he can find in New York City to beat the clock. If he fails, he'll give up his dream and be just another working man. Or will he? Elaine drives a very rude costumer, who accuses her cheating on the fare. Back at the garage, Elaine invites Alex to come to a party in her apartment, which she gives for the people from the art gallery where she works, but she doesn't want him to tell anyone that they both work as cab drivers, because she is embarrassed. But Alex says he is okay to lie about Elaine's occupation, but he is not okay to lie about him being a cab driver. The rest of the crew sort of invite themselves to the party after hearing about it. But Elaine explicitly says that Louie isn't allowed to come. Elaine makes Alex come over a little earlier so he is the first at the party and he can give her some moral support. John meets a girl at a bar and to his surprise she likes to have a drink with him. After heading of with her to go bowling, he doesn't show up at work for a few days. Louie has a high school reunion coming up and he's dreading it because he was the butt of everyone's jokes and cruelty back then. Bobby Wheeler, who normally loathes Louie himself comes up with a crazy scheme to help Louie get even with everyone. Bobby will cast himself as,a very much changed Louie DePalma! In order for Latka to stay in the country, he gets married to a call girl. The wedding is held in the garage led by the Reverend Jim Ignatowski.

When John and his new wife are strapped for money, Alex considers giving them a loan.

Tony is tormented by a crazy, pill-popping, one-time love interest who refuses to break up with him and gets a job at the garage just to be with him.

Cab driver John Burns is involved in an accident while driving taxicab # 804. As Latka sets to work on repairing it,the gang at Sunshine Cab reminisce about memorable customers they encountered. Bobby recalls how on a cold night in winter, an armed robber attempted to rob him after getting in the front seat. Bobby pulled his own gun and they had a stand-off for hours. Meantime getting a parking ticket and Bobby finally making a move to end the confrontation. Next, Tony tells the very short story of how he saw a man about leap off the Brooklyn Bridge and talks him out of it by simply saying Hey! Don't do that! Finally, Louie talk about a bratty twelve year old con artist that he gambled with while driving the kid to a private school. Louie ends up teaching the kid a lesson he wont forget. In part two the gang continues to reminisce about their experiences in cab 804 while Latka comes closer to getting it fixed. Alex recalls a couple that got into his cab,the wife was pregnant and went in to labor and Alex had to help deliver it in the back seat. Elaine picks up a charming wealthy man and drives him out to the country,who asks her to spend the night with him but she can't bring herself to do it. Louie's gambling brother, Nick from Las Vegas, comes to visit the garage. Irritated that Nick refuses to spend time with their mother, Louie bankrolls Alex in a card game to try and get back at him.

Alex befriends a wealthy elderly lady who pays him to take her around the city.

Tony's friendship with Bobby is tested when he leaves town and Bobby mistakenly kills his goldfish.

When Louie ends up in the hospital for an operation, he makes a promise to God that if he is able to pull through, he will change his ways. He is quickly tested by an unconvinced Bobby.

While out on a fare, Alex befriends a socially inept congressman who is dumped by a woman. Feeling sorry for the guy, Alex fixes him up on a date with Elaine.

Actor/Cab Driver Bobby Wheeler lands a role on a daytime soap opera and thinks he's done with being a cab driver. Louie DePalma cynically believes Bobby will be back and can't wait to let him have it when he does. This possibility leads Alex Reiger to really have it out with Louie to prevent him from possibly humiliating Bobby. Written by happipuppi13

Latka's mother comes to visit from their home country but Louie canceled his day off to fix 3 taxis. Latka then asks Alex to keep his mother company until he gets off work. Alex ends up with more than he expected when he and Ms. Gravas end up in bed together. After hearing about this, Latka thinks that she and Alex are going to be a couple but is shocked when told it was just a one time thing. A Hollywood movie producer comes to the garage to interview and follow cabbies in order to get material for his latest film.

With Elaine going out of town to visit her sick aunt, the guys at the garage takes turns watching over her son so that he can compete in a spelling bee.
