After Tony resigned so that he could move to where Rachel's job takes her. But she turned down the job. Tony goes to the mayor hoping to get his job back but she already hired someone else. Tony goes to work for a P.I. And when he gets an uneasy feeling from the guy who replaced him, Tony decides to investigate him much to the chagrin of the guy he works for. The Eastbridge Police Department is requested to assist in bringing down the biggest mobster from Cleveland. His men turn around and set Rachel up in a hit-and-run so Tony sets up a little sting of his own.

The Scalis babysitter is raped by the local football hero and then harassed and threatened by his fans.

When Cyd breaks it off with her boyfriend, bad things start happening. How is it possible that the Chief of Detectives didn't notice these things about him? The force also deals with a Mother-Son bank robbing team.

Stan's fiancee appears in surveillance video of jewelry store armed robbery. Will there be a wedding? Rachel puts the family on a healthy diet.

When a wealthy socialite is found dead and it appears to be murder, Tony investigates. Initially evidence points to her two spoiled children who spend their time partying. When returning home from dinner with Rachel's cousin Benny, a used-car dealer, the Scalis come upon a man and a woman arguing in the street. Next day the woman's body is found with a gunshot wound. During the police investigation a police officer comes out as being gay, and faces some homophobia from the other officers. A businesswoman is found dead with a PCP overdose and her dog is mysteriously missing. The new janitor at the police station reports that he saw what happened to the woman. At the pretrial, the defendant's lawyer gives the witness a particularly hard time because he has Down Syndrome. The judge agrees that they don't have enough evidence to proceed to trial. Rachel and Tony have a loud, screaming fight about the need for her to have her own office and Tony leaves in anger for a body found. Tony recognizes the victim as a guy who can get anything for a price. Rachel stops in to the bank to find out about a loan to make the new office when she and the bank manager realize the bank is being robbed. There are 10 people inside the bank and they are now hostages. Bank robber is talked into releasing the hostages but decides he needs one so that he has some bargaining power and decides to keep the manager who tells him that Rachel would be a better hostage as she is the Commissioner's wife. David and his girlfriend find a dead body, whom everyone recognizes as a man with a gambling problem. Word on the street says the perpetrator is a new man, known by a nickname. Rachel invites the Fishers for dinner as she thinks they should get to know the girlfriend's family. Everyone's getting along so well Mr. Fisher tells Tony to call him by his nickname. A young woman is attacked in her apartment building but the suspect is stopped when the manager realizes something is amiss. While the manager and Tony are discussing options with the other residents, their apartments are burglarized. The police squad is going to do security checks but are replaced by a security company. Tony goes to the building anyway and as he's meeting the new security man, the young gang shows up with the missing items and they're sporting injuries like black eyes and wrapped wrists. A drunk driver kills the wife of one of Tony's men and, because the driver is a doctor, the judge suspends his sentence.

A young mother witnesses a mugging where suspect is someone who has caused great harm in previous incidents. The mother wavers in deciding to testify. When they've found that she has disappeared and there is no record of anyone with that name or social security number, Tony is out to find her and the daughter. Turns out mom caught the dad touching the daughter inappropriately and she divorced him and disappeared with the little girl. Will the Letter of the Law be followed to return the girl to her father?
