After receiving telepathic visions of an explosion, Toby saves his former foster brother, Vince Pirell, from an apartment fire; but, with a reputation as a tweaker and cooker of crystal meth, the victim becomes the suspect. After bumping into a young homeless man, Toby is plagued by visions of a missing girl. Certain she's been abducted, he pursues the street person for insights into her whereabouts but gets more than he bargained for, including the distinct feeling that the street person might share his psychic abilities. The emotional overload inspires him to try and salvage his failed relationship with Dr. Olivia Fawcett. Unfortunately, he's unable to quiet the visions and must act quickly if there's any hope of saving the young girl. Concerned over Toby's inexplicable behavior, Oz asks George about getting psychological help for a friend, which George quickly misconstrues as a personal plea for help. Determined to help, he appeals to him with some of his own past experiences, but as he gets closer to the truth about Daniel's involvement in a series of pharmaceutical heists, Toby discovers that things may be a lot more complicated than he initially feared, and that the life of a missing girl named Lisa may be in jeopardy. As he collects telepathic thoughts and sorts through them, he realizes that Kim's brother was involved in human smuggling and they'll have to act quickly before more lives are lost. Called to a crime scene, Toby and Oz find two victims lying in a pool of blood. Toby senses someone else present, and the victim's teenage son, Andy, is discovered hiding and barely alive. Toby is overwhelmed with thoughts and voices. With two dead parents and the only witness unable to speak, Charlie asks Toby to use his telepathic ability to explore Andy's mind. Their investigation reveals Andy may suffer from a rare and puzzling condition. During dinner at Oz's parents' restaurant, Toby and Olivia learn Oz is working there during his downtime to save the business from bankruptcy. Toby is initially reluctant, but Oz manages to convince him to use his telepathy to help solve a missing person case for a $100,000 reward to pay the debt. Detective Charlie Marks provides Toby with details from the case, which led to the murder conviction of the missing woman's husband, Arthur Stebbes. Toby and Oz respond to a man suffering from a head injury. As the man, Ron Wallace, loses consciousness and dies, Toby flashes on an image of a young woman. As they place him on a stretcher, a handgun falls from his coat with a photo of the woman from Toby's vision. With Oz's help, Toby tracks down the woman, who turns out to be the victim's daughter, Lindsay. Lindsay asks if her father's death had anything to do with the four million dollars he embezzled. Toby shares what he knows with Detective Charlie Marks and they discover that, despite spending fourteen years in prison, Ron may not have committed the crime. Toby is called as a witness in the murder trial of Leslie Cahill, a young singer allegedly shot by her overbearing producer Peter Gavin. Having broken EMS protocol by bashing down the door before police arrived, the defense tries to destroy his credibility. In the courtroom, Toby is able to read the thoughts of other witnesses, including the victim's sister, who claims Gavin was responsible for her sister's death. While not convinced she's telling the truth, he gets a strange hit from someone else watching the trial. This leads him to discover the victim was being watched, and her stalker might hold the key to what actually happened. Toby and Oz pick up a John Doe whom Dr. Olivia Fawcett diagnoses with Alzheimer's disease. Toby brings Dr. Ray Mercer to the hospital to meet John Doe, whom Ray recognizes as Frank Cardea, the man who brought Toby to Ray twenty years earlier. Due to his Alzheimer's, Frank continues to have trouble remembering, but he does tell Toby that Toby's mother Maya sent him. Toby is hit with a distress beacon, catching glimpses of a smashed windshield and a mysterious man, and sets course on a journey to learn more about the troubling images in Frank's mind.
