In the countryside north of Cardiff, the Torchwood team investigates the disappearance of 17 people in the last few months. No bodies have been found and the police haven't a clue as to what may have happened to them. They set up camp in a field but when their SUV is stolen and then parked in a small village just a few miles away, they realize they're being lured into a trap. In the village, they find the remains of several inhabitants - stripped of flesh and organs - and one terrified survivor who promptly shoots Gwen with a shotgun. After PC Gwen Cooper sees a dead man brought back to life, she sets about investigating. She traces it all to Jack Harkness and Torchwood but when she finally gets there, the Torchwood team have been expecting her. She's amazed with what she sees and learns that Torchwood is a private organization, working outside of government and keeping the world safe from alien beings. She also learns that Jack Harkness is immortal and cannot be killed. She's keen on the solving the murder she saw but Jack doesn't feel that's their business. Gwen Cooper is now a member of Torchwood as they investigate a meteor that has crashed on the outskirts of Cardiff. She inadvertently releases a gaseous life form that can take control of a human host. The host is a young woman, Carys, who uncontrollably becomes a sexual predator and any man she has sex with disintegrates. The Torchwood team find her easily but when she manages to escape, they know the lives of young men are at risk. Gwen meanwhile realizes she is the only one on the team with a social life while the others spend all of their time working. Written by garykmcd

After Gwen Cooper recovers an alien device from Sean Harris, the device seemingly takes her back in time to the 1940s where she sees a young boy, alone on a railway platform. Soon after, Owen has a similar experience only this time he is under a bridge in the early 1960s where a young woman is raped and murdered. They trace both the boy and the murderer and learn that the boy was well taken care of. As for the murderer, the case remains unsolved, something that outrages Owen. Written by garykmcd

Ianto has been keeping a secret from the rest of the Torchwood team: hidden in the basement is his girlfriend, Lisa Hallett, who was partly converted by the Cybermen during the Canary Wharf attack. He wants to return her to human form and works with Dr. Tanizaki to make her human again. He quickly loses control of the situation and when the Hub begins to lose power, the others are on to him. As a battle ensues, Ianto's must decide between his love for Lisa and his loyalty to the team. Written by garykmcd

Jack introduces Gwen to his good friend, the elderly Estelle who believes in faeries and thinks she has the photographs to prove it. Estelle likes Jack and tells Gwen that she and Jack's father had a love affair during World War II. Gwen quickly realizes that it was with Jack that she had the affair and sees a wonderful chemistry between the of them. Jack and Gwen soon come to believe that the faeries are not the benign beautiful creatures Estelle believes them to be and when a young girl, Jasmine Pierce, becomes the object of their attention, Torchwood sets out to protect her. The team is called out to a construction site when a very old skeleton is dug up. Owen can't quite figure out the cause of death which appears to be from a gun or musket shot. Tosh meanwhile meets an attractive stranger named Mary in a bar who seems to know a great deal about Torchwood. She gives Tosh a pendant that allows her to hear people's thoughts. Initially, she's repulsed at actually hearing what other are thinking - about her, about those around them and so on - but when she overhears someone who is about to kill his wife and child and manages to stop him, she realizes that some good can come of it. She's not prepared for the revelation her new friend has for her when Tosh suggests turning the pendant over to Torchwood. Written by garykmcd

Torchwood is called into a murder investigation when a suburban couple are found in their beds with their throats slit and TORCHWOOD written on the wall in their blood. Gwen convinces them to use the gauntlet to reanimate the victims to see if they can get the identity of the killer. They have little success but when they learn that their former colleague Suzie Costello had a connection to the victims, they decide to revive her. Normally, the dead can only be revived for a minute or two at most but in Suzie's case, she seems to have been reanimated permanently. When they learn that she is drawing her life force from a member of the Torchwood team, the others have to find a way to stop her. Written by garykmcd

A young man, Eugene Jones, 'awakens' lying on the road, apparently having been struck by a car. He quickly realizes that he is dead and that he's now present only in spirit. No one can see or hear him and he has no memory of what's happened in the recent past. In flashbacks, he recalls an unhappy childhood where his father abandoned his family on the same day he lost a quiz competition at school. On that same day, one of his teachers have him something special that simply fell out of the sky, a glass eye. Before his death he had gotten to know Gwen Cooper and tried to interest her in the eye. She didn't have much time for him when he was alive but in death she takes a genuine interest in him. Eugene tries to help her along. Written by garykmcd

The Torchwood teams meets an arriving aircraft at the airport but it's a flight like no other: it departed on December 18, 1953. For the pilot, Diane Holmes and two passengers, only about half an hour has gone by. Jack Harkness tells them they have traveled through a transcendental porthole, a hole in time and space. The bad news however is that having traveled to the future, they cannot return. Adapting to life in the 21st century is not simple as they get used to their new surroundings and the fact that almost everyone they once knew is now gone. There is a a wave of Weevil attacks in Cardiff but someone else is rounding up the creatures and Jack wants to know who they are. The creature they have been keeping imprisoned in the basement is wailing suggesting the kidnappers may be harming the Weevil that was on the loose. Owen is still blue following Diane Holmes' departure but when he finally shows up at the Hub, he agrees to go undercover but what he finds will testy he very will to live. Gwen meanwhile is having trouble with boyfriend Rhys who feels she's spending too much time on the job. Written by garykmcd

Jack and Tosh investigate when there are reports of music coming out of nowhere in an abandoned dance hall. While in the building, a temporal shift puts them in back in 1941 but they soon realize can't get back to their own time, at least not without Tosh sending those in the present day the necessary equations to make it happen. While at the dance hall, Jack runs into someone he knows, an American RAF pilot by the name of Jack Harkness. In the present day Owen, Ianto and Gwen are working to get them back. Owen wants to open the rift and try to get Diane Holmes back as well, but opening the rift could destroy the city. The dance hall manager, Bilis Manger, seems to have little trouble going back and forth in time however. Written by garykmcd
