Cathy and Colin return from holiday to find that they have been burgled and seek comfort with Beth and Eric whilst nosy Christine arrives to see what has happened and to criticize the police. The boys also turn up, giving Cathy a chance to trick Gordon into taking off his trousers, but there is shocking news to follow, meaning that Eric and Beth have to let the burgled couple stay with them for the night. To celebrate Beth's birthday Ian and Gordon take her and Eric for a pub lunch. However pushy Christine also invites herself and to make matters worse a drunk Colin, alone whilst Cathy is at a health spa, turns up and draws attention by his loud behaviour.
