Kelsey is trying to get Jade to submit the pages of her book. When she can't get her she calls her agent and tells him that unless she submits something, she'll have to return her advance. Josh's inclusion in a New York Times profile puts a strain on his relationship with Liza.

Depressed over her breakup with Josh, Liza takes a trip to the farmer's market. She meets a handsome farmer from upstate (Matthew Morrison) selling shawls made from wool given by the sheep he raises. After reading a pamphlet containing essays he's written, she's convinced his writings would make a perfect book for Millennial, and works on getting him signed. Meanwhile, Kelsey holds Thad's feet to the fire about dumping other female friends from his Instagram account and publicly acknowledging their engagement, which Liza fears was too rushed. Empirical is about to launch a new book and the author, a rambunctious man comes to select the people who will be playing certain characters at the launching. And he chooses Liza to play the main female character. Liza is still vague to Caitlin about her job and as result Caitlin refuses to go to school. Following Thad's death, Liza meets his twin brother, Chad who is curious why she was with Thad when he died. She says it was just a coincidence. But he later finds a video which shows the altercation between them, so she tells Kelsey what happened and Kelsey tells Liza she should have stayed out of it. Liza then decides to quit Empirical. Eventually everyone, Diana and Charles miss her and try to get her to come back. Charles goes to see her and tells her that in addition to missing her at the office, he's developing a personal interest in her. And it coincides with her reuniting with Josh.
