Pauline over-rules Brian by allowing Dawn, who is exhausted by skivvying for her lazy father and older brothers, to be their lodger but Dawn's spiteful father Len counters by banning her from seeing little brother Stanley. Needing the money Steph agrees to host a party for Lisa, the woman she caught with Terry, organized by Lisa's innocent boyfriend Barry, who takes Steph's 5 year old son Dean out - and loses him, though sympathetic policeman Danny helps Steph find him. In 1982 when Sheffield factory worker Terry Kirke loses his job his wife Steph, who cleans for wealthy butcher's wife Pauline Spake, sees the chance to make extra money by selling saucy undies and sex aids. Despite Terry's objections and her own inhibitions she joins fellow school run mum Nita and hairdresser Dawn, girlfriend of Pauline's husband Brian's shop boy as salespersons but lacks a venue - until Pauline, bored by her lonely existence, offers to host the party. Pauline is initially nervous but rises to the occasion when her prudish friend Bunny objects and the evening is a success. In the present a young mother called Lara, a descendant of Nathan, is troubled by seeing Gabriel's ghost and travels to Shepzoy to commune with him and persuade him to tell Nathan he forgives him. In 1895 Nathan's increasingly odd behaviour forces Charlotte to take over the management of the farm, dealing with handsome neighbour William Payne, rather to Nathan's annoyance. Lara is the ghostly woman who keeps appearing to Nathan and she aims to ease his grief, appearing to Charlotte and stopping Nathan from killing himself. An unusual object is unearthed on the farm, leading Nathan's employees to tell him they believe that it has caused the recent supernatural events and its discovery will bring them to an end. Gabriel stops troubling his father and it would appear that Nathan has found closure at last - though a séance some thirty years later may suggest otherwise. Written by don @ minifie-1

As Nathan is made aware the villagers believe that his presence is attracting ghosts the locals prepare for All Hallows Eve but are nervous as this is the anniversary of a seventeenth century massacre by Roundheads and there are fears that their spirits will return to wreak havoc. Nathan, however, is more concerned with contacting a female ghost - not Clarity - that he has seen and believes is orchestrating the hauntings. At nightfall the villagers, including Charlotte, see the spectral riders in the woods but they appear to disperse after the reverend Denning performs an exorcism but come the morning Charlotte has another cause for concern as Nathan insists on the presence of their dead son Gabriel in the house. Comedian Jamie Slater provides the voice for Waldo,a blue cartoon bear who interviews politicians for a late night topical satire show where Waldo generally humiliates them. Jamie's producer Jack Napier suggests Waldo stands as the local MP in the upcoming election,against pompous Tory boy Liam Monroe - one of Waldo's interview victims. A reluctant Jamie agrees and meets the Labour candidate Gwendolyn,with whom he has a one night stand but is later told to keep away from by her campaign manager. On a televised discussion show Jamie sounds off against all the opposition,claiming they are insincere,and he becomes hugely popular as a result. However he suffers from guilt and urges people not to vote for Waldo. After Napier orchestrates an attack on him Jamie wakes in hospital to see the election results.
