The firm takes on the automatic appeal of convicted murderer Clarence Wilcox who was convicted of killing a police officer during an armed robbery at a convenience store. Their argument is that a made-for-TV movie poisoned the jury pool but the appellate court denies them a re-trial. After meeting the man's wife, Alicia begins to wonder if they should launch an appeal based on the facts rather than technicalities.
