Three winners from previous seasons watch on from the audience. Another former contestant, Shaye, returns to complete her Subway challenge which started at last season's finale. After weighing-in, Shaye learns that her challenge is not yet complete. Jillian promotes her new show, Losing It with Jillian (2010), on which she tries to complete in a week with home viewers what she has weeks to do on The Biggest Loser. Alison provides an update of the Pound for Pound Challenge. The contestants who did not make the final three are presented and weigh-in to see who will win the $100,000 at home challenge. With Lance voted off the last weigh-in, he is sent home. Or is he? All the contestants who have previously been voted off campus, with the exception of Migdalia who is dealing with a personal issue at home, are back, one of whom will be invited back on campus, that person to be chosen purely by vote of the on-campus contestants. The only rule is that one cannot vote for their own family member. After the invited player is named, Alison announces one last challenge for one of the off campus contestants to get back on campus. The challenge opens up old wounds between various players. Both returning players receive immunity for the week. All the contestants also learn that they are no longer in teams, but are now competing as individuals. The two returning players and being back to singles brings up issues in the contestants' minds. The twenty-two contestants - who arrive as teams of two - are introduced, three of whom are the heaviest three contestants ever on the show, and one team which weighs collectively close to half a ton. Their initial weigh-in is held in each's hometown in front of family, friends and other townsfolk. When they arrive on campus and enter the gym for the first time, the contestants are surprised to see it empty, except for twenty-two bicycles. Each team is to cycle collectively 26.2 miles, the equivalent of a marathon. The team to finish the distance first gets immunity from elimination, the bottom two teams who will be asked to leave the campus immediately. However Bob and Jillian are training together, and use the first workout to assess the fitness and personality of each of the contestants. At the first weigh-in, the contestants are weighed as a team. The team with the lowest percentage of weight loss falls below the yellow line.
