Alison introduces the theme for the season - athletes trying to regain their former glory - before she introduces the four trainers, Jen, Jessie, Dolvett, and Bob, the latter who provides his thoughts about the concept of and atmosphere at Comeback Canyon. While Jen and Jessie talk of being the new trainers this season, Dolvett talks about what made this season special compared to previous seasons. The at-home contestants are introduced and Alison describes a little of their journey on the show and after leaving the ranch before they each weigh-in for the final time to determine the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. The trainers interview audience members who have gone through their own at-home weight loss journey, Jared Fogle, Subway spokesperson, who has a special message for them. Three winners from previous seasons watch on from the audience. Another former contestant, Shaye, returns to complete her Subway challenge which started at last season's finale. After weighing-in, Shaye learns that her challenge is not yet complete. Jillian promotes her new show, Losing It with Jillian (2010), on which she tries to complete in a week with home viewers what she has weeks to do on The Biggest Loser. Michael's elimination at the latest weigh-in has put some people on the defensive in how the vote went down. The remaining contestants learn that they will will have to work together as one cohesive unit this week as Alison tells them that if they as a collective can lose 70 pounds this week, they will all be provided immunity from elimination at that weigh-in. They are provided two opportunities to lower that 70 pound amount. The first, which potentially could drop that number by up to 10 pounds, is through a pop challenge on nutrition knowledge and surpassing physical challenges already taken, however it will be completed by the child ambassadors, which in some respects frightens the contestants if only because the fate of those 10 pounds is out of their hands. The second, which could be another 10 pound deduction, is through this week's team reward challenge, where the contestants are required to dig through five to ten large sand piles to find clues to complete the entire ... The contestants arrive back to the ranch from Hawaii without Kimmy, who was the eliminated contestant after the latest weigh-in and vote. Their first task is a pop challenge, one of each packing one hundred fifty 15-20 pound boxes onto a truck, the first person to do so winning a one pound advantage at this week's weigh-in. They also win an over 30,000 pound delivery of food to their local food bank courtesy of Newman's Own. The contestants who don't win that challenge have motivation of their own to complete the challenge. Because of the week's theme of exercise is boring, the trainers decide to change up their workouts, one of Dolvett's which Buddy allows himself to let loose. Bob decides to focus his attentions this week on Megan, who he feels has not yet reached her potential.
