Following a terrorist attack in London GP Mona Harcourt learns that her brother Kareem has been murdered, apparently by a group called Saif Ali Jasim at his charity clinic in Lahore. For Mona, her siblings and husband Guy there is further distress when Kareem's student son Danish disappears, seemingly to Spain with the knowledge of his uncle Omar.
