Scott Freeman, a widower with two teenaged girls, is battered to death on a tow path. Masquerading as a young girl on the Internet he had been hunting down paedophiles, hopefully catching the man who , nine years earlier, raped his younger daughter Rose whilst she was in Brighton for a dance contest run by Edward and Tamsin Shaffer. Scott's computer shows that he met Dr Philip Cleaving on the tow path but Cleaving insists he left Scott alive. Cleaving ultimately admits his part in Rose's rape but Edward Shaffer was also placed at the scene, though he denies involvement. A blood-stained towel in the Shaffers' garbage appears to link him to Scott's murder but then Edward is also killed. Written by don @ minifie-1

Barrister Jonathan Moxton is discovered battered to death, nude and tied to his bed, on the face of it a sex game gone wrong. Schizophrenic Saul Hammond found the body in response to the victim's screams and rang the police. Still covered in blood he claims he hears somebody in the house when he went to investigate but, with no evidence, Martha releases him , to the annoyance of Jack, who is convinced Saul is the culprit as he had argued with Jonathan over closure of the hostel where he lives. Then the police discover that a man called Mick Shaw has been blackmailing Jonathan's wife Tanya over her past as a prostitute and Jonathan himself over his gay affair with teen-ager Nate Turner. Nate is arrested but whilst he is in custody the body of Michael Collins is found in a gay cruising area, killed in the same way as Jonathan. Written by don @ minifie-1

Leo sends Niska to George for her own safety, though Vera is suspicious. George tells her that Hobb worked with him and Leo's father David in creating the synths and when Pete, still angry with his wife for her dependency on Simon, arrives to tell George that Odi has been sighted, he hides Niska. Mattie meets Leo to discover Anita's original identity but Anita is not forthcoming and Mattie returns home with her. Leo is bitterly disappointed as he needs all the original 'super' synths to come together to achieve advanced consciousness. He is unaware that Hobb's experiments on Fred make this unlikely.
