Detectives Briscoe and Logan investigate the disappearance of a three month old baby, Emily, who was taken while she and her father Marty Willick were in the park. He dozed off for a few minutes and when he awoke, she was gone. The detectives begin to have second thoughts about the veracity of Willick's story and finally the truth comes out: Willick claims that he and his wife found her dead in her crib. The medical examiner finds that the baby has symptoms of asphyxia, though it could have been a crib death. When they learn that two other of the Willick's children also died of crib death, they are certain one or both of the parents were responsible for Emily's death. Written by garykmcd

Detectives Briscoe and Logan investigate the death of a building superintendent who is found dead in the basement of his apartment building. He was well-liked by everyone it seems and was conscientious and good at his job. It looks like someone may have broken into the basement but forensic analysis reveals that the scene was staged. The police quickly focus on the dead man's son, Sean, a brilliant student who goes to a private school and has been accepted at Princeton. The boy is obviously embarrassed by his father low stature and Dr. Elizabeth Olivet concludes that he is in fact a sociopath. The DA's office has a major grand jury investigation underway on corruption and theft in the construction industry. The night before Det. Sgt. Max Greevy is to testify, he is gunned down at home in his driveway. Needless to say, Logan is upset and partnered with Det. Phil Cerreta, looks for what they and the DA's office believe must have been a leak from a member of the grand jury. When it turns out the jury foreman may have told his son of Greevy's upcoming testimony, Logan tracks him down and gets him to confess at gunpoint. There seems to be little doubt that the man is the one who killed Greevy but Logan's zealousness in getting the confession may result in the case being thrown out of court. Written by garykmcd

Detectives Max Greevy and Mike Logan investigate the shooting of two young African-Americans on a crowded subway train. There are several witnesses to the shooting leading them to hospital technician Laura Di Biasi, a one-time dancer who had to give up her career as a dancer after a violent assault some years before. She doesn't deny the shooting but is claiming self-defense as she was afraid of being raped by the two men. The police conclude that she may have been out to deliberately avenge her earlier attack against anyone and Executive ADA Stone agrees to charge her with murder. He realizes however that should he lose the case, it will be sending New Yorkers a message that it's okay to shoot and ask questions later. Written by garykmcd
