At the opera Mona and Guy meet DCI Barnes who proposes that Mona fly to Lahore to identify Kareem's body so that it may be released to his family. Accompanied by her mother she travels to Pakistan, leaving Guy and their son Sammi behind. With Kareem gone Mona takes over his work at the clinic and is approached by Richard Payne, the British consul, who takes her to identify Kareem, but she is mistrustful of him and makes a quick exit.
