Active pensioner Madge has a boyfriend, Eric, who commends her good deeds and her work as a prison visitor. What she has not told him is that the prisoner she visits is her husband Mike, jailed for manslaughter, but whom she has told everybody died in a car crash. At Madge's birthday party Eric proposes and she accepts but on the wedding day takes drastic action to prevent the ceremony going ahead.
