Helen stows away on Paris's ship to elope to Troy with him. Hecuba insists she be sent back but after Helen has pleaded her case to stay Priam considers negotiations. However the Spartans are already launching an army, led by Menelaus, his brother Agamemnon and Odysseus. Priam meets with Menelaus and initially agrees to return Helen to him but, having heard the sanctions Menelaus intends to impose on Troy, retracts his decision. Menelaus leaves, threatening to return and destroy the city and the gods of Olympus are divided as they champion opposing sides. Written by don @ minifie-1
