Sam now leaps some 11 years into the future and into the body of Will Kinman, whom he had met in 1955. Will was a young man when Sam occupied Sheriff Clayton Fuller's body. In 1965 Will is 27 years old and now engaged to a 21 year-old Abigail Fuller. Will is now a Deputy Sheriff and on his wedding day, a young boy Abigail babysat the previous evening has gone missing. She has no idea what may have happened to the lad but a mob mentality is beginning to take hold with Leta Aider, who still blames Abigail for the death of her daughter and her husband, leading the charge. In a preliminary hearing Harm and Bud prosecute, and Mac defends. Friction develops between Harm and Mac. Harm uses a forceful technique to demonstrate to the court that the weapon in question had not jammed. Harm eventually discovers the background of the dead sailor, and he deduces how the death took place; then he informs the court that he cannot prove the case against the defendant, so the judge dismisses the charge. After the boat fires the fish during an authorized exercise, the tech sends it on a mission of his own -- to shadow a cruise ship nearby until the US government pays a ransom.
