Theater artiste, Anubhav Malhotra, is looking for his first break on the silver screen when he runs into a fan in wealthy Meera Valecha. Both become good friends, fall in love, but when Meera's family disapproves, elope and get married. They re-locate to live in a room rented from Ibrahim Vakil and Anubhav gets some work in TV serials. His friend, Aditya, decides to give him a lead role in a forthcoming movie based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. Meera then becomes pregnant, subsequently gives birth to a very ill baby girl, is told that the baby is no more, but Anubhav decides to medically treat the child, and is asked to deposit Rs.20 Lakhs. Unable to come up with this amount, he decides to cater as a resort to wealthy women for a price through a pimp, Vanraj. In this way he pays for his child's treatment, feels drained, and is unable to become intimate with Meera anymore.
