Doctors are baffled when an expectant mother wakes to find her nearly-to-term pregnancy apparently disappear overnight. Police investigate the situation as a missing child, and only her husband and brother trust her version of events.

Alejandro returns to Puerto Rico to help his sister Magdalena get her life together, only to find out from an old acquaintance that Magdalena has gone missing. Led to a bar in old San Juan, he discovers that not only was Magdalena working as an exotic dancer, but she was dating a drug dealing surfer. Alejandro will try to piece together the events that led to her disappearance and struggle to wrap his head around the interconnected nature of all the characters.

A single mother signs up for self-defense classes from a handsome instructor. But he develops a frightening obsession with her and orchestrates an increasing deadly array of "tests" to see if she has truly learned from his lessons.
