The film, based on the William Sirls book, follows a small-town pastor, his wife and their sick child as a mysterious man is sent to give them hope. Sirls adapted his book for the screen, writing the screenplay with Aviv Rubinstein and Richard Clark Jr.

Diggsy (Kristopher Wente) has been in love with Suzette (Sara Antonio) since he was 9 years old. After she marries someone else, he encounters a mysterious stranger (Eddie George) who offers him a key that can open doors into parallel universes. This uncanny opportunity gives him a chance to find a version of Suzette who will love him back. During his journey, he unexpectedly meets Gwyneth (C.J. Perry), a wild card who may throw his universe-jumping adventure for a loop. For Diggsy, this is a tale full of surprises, awkward encounters, and the possibility of finding the perfect version of that someone who will love you back.

Laurel, a Chicago-based business executive, travels to Memphis to secure one of the city's oldest family-owned banks. While in Memphis, Laurel reunites with old flame Clay, a local music promoter with loftier aspirations. Though Laurel tries to keep her eye on the prize of the business acquisition, Clay is very persuasive reminding her of the days when they were a performing duo on the brink of stardom. Now Laurel's focus turns to the home of the Blues and dreams of making music again.

A convicted robber (lead villain) loses his wife and child after being sentenced to prison. While away he meets another crook who mentions a "job" he worked with a fellow thief that ended in a monumental score but also jail time for the pair. The second man hid the money at the home of his wife and teen-aged daughter before being sent to a separate facility than the first two men including the lead villain. When he learns of the money's whereabouts he escapes prison to head for the family's farmhouse. When he arrives he masks his identity to the family, gaining their trust. But soon after they find the true reason behind his arrival. The story then turns into a fight for survival with the mother and daughter against the escaped prisoner.
