Burgess and Roman find the body of an eight-year-old boy while pursuing a gang-banger.

A man goes to the station to report his daughter is missing. But when he says she's 18, they tell him there's nothing that can be done. That's when he pulls a gun and takes Mouse hostage and demands they try and find his daughter. He tells them that her credit card which hasn't been used since she went missing is now being used. They look into and discover it wasn't his daughter who used it. The person says he got it out of a car. He tells them where and they go there and discover funny about the house and go in and find girls in cells. Evidently they stumbled across a human trafficking ring. One of the girls tells them the man's daughter was there but she and another girl was taken away, When the brass considers sending in SWAT to get the father, they bring the girl who knows his daughter to him to talk to him into surrendering. After surviving a hit against him, Voight is convinced the culprit is a criminal he and Olinksy once put away and is determined to catch him before he injures anyone else. At District, Atwater accidentally spills information about Ruzek past which unsettles Burgess and Platt assigns Burgess and Roman a high society dognapping case.

After a botched undercover job, Ruzek is under scrutiny by the new Street Deputy Crowley who will determine his future with the unit. A suspicious person call turns into a murder investigation when Burgess and her temporary partner Price discover the body of a dead man in an SUV. After Mouse identifies the victim as the owner of a security company, the unit soon realizes there might be more to his story. Halstead and Lindsay take a step forward in their relationship.

You Never Know Who's Who The discovery of a body leads to a cache of weapons, which then leads Intelligence on a strange investigation into a team of operatives that are targeting criminals within the city. Roman treats a sick young boy to a day at the 21st district.

Burgess and Roman go to a woman who says her son is missing. When they look around they find something disturbing so they contact Intelligence and go to the boy's school and clear it out. They eventually find the boy dead of an apparent suicide and with a bomb. They learn he was close to another boy who is also missing and they learn he looked up on the web how to build a bomb. They find him but have nothing on him so they let him go. They later learn he went to his swimming coach and wrote something that implies the coach is a pedophile. the coach says the boy is delusional so they try to find out who is telling the truth. A man who works at the NSA and knows Carlos informs him of a drug deal he overheard. When they grab the perp, they discover no drugs but a body. They learn the man worked at a company that makes encryption machines for the government. They later learn that some software was taken which could be used by enemies of the US. Carlos' contact shows up and informs them he's been tracing certain phones and one of them belongs to the wife of the man who was killed. So they keep an eye on her. A doctor from Voight's past is under investigation when four of his patients are sent to Chicago Med for an overdose of chemotherapy.

After a luxury condo is robbed, the team is shocked to learn that not only was the family fast asleep when the crime occurred but their teenaged daughter was violated during the invasion as well. Voight consults Jimmy from Firehouse 51 to confirm his suspicion that the family was knocked out by a powerful gas and Lindsay Halstead Atwater and Ruzek go undercover to seek out the perpetrators. Meanwhile Voight tries to help a former acquaintance get back on his feet and Platt and Mouch receive disappointing news regarding their upcoming Wedding.

Voight enlists his former cell mate to help take down a major cocaine supplier, while Burgess makes a move regarding her relationship with Ruzek and Roman comes up with a plan to fund Platt and Mouch's wedding.

When a woman after leaving a casino is pulled over by a cop who proceeds to assault her. Intelligence is tasked with finding the cop so Lindsay goes to a casino and when she leaves a cop pulls her over. They arrest him and try to get him to say who else is involved. They later learn the man is not a cop but everything he had on him, the badge, the uniform and the car were authentic.. The victim comes in and says he's not the one who attacked her. So Voight talks to him and he tells Voight who he knows whom the victim identifies as the attacker. They have an APB on him and when Roman sees him, he approaches him and he shoots him. While working at a sobriety checkpoint, Burgess finds a duffel bag full of heroin in the truck of a respected college professor who claims to know nothing about how the drugs ended up there. Voight decides to hold off on charging the unlikely suspect and Olinksy and Antonio follow up on a lead to see who is behind the drug smuggling. At District, Roman expresses his desires to become a Field Training Office to Platt and Mouse sets Halstead up with an off duty security job working for the attractive owner of a medical marijuana clinic

The team is tasked with finding who killed a black boy. Initially they focus on the boy's father who was affiliated with a gang but he says he's out and can't think of anyone who would want to do this to him. The team responds to a call about a shooter. They find one person dead and another one seriously wounded. They learn the place they are at is a shelter for abused women. They learn that some of the women ran out when the shooting began. They find them except one. From video footage they see the shooter took the girl who is missing. they learn she has an abusive boyfriend who is a criminal. They find him but unfortunately he's dead. They find the girl and she says the shooter took her so that her boyfriend would open the door so that he could kill him. they think someone wanted the boyfriend dead because he's a competitor. Lindsay was present when a man was seen running off bleeding being chased by a woman with a knife. Lindsay finds the woman who says the man was keeping her captive and subjugating her. Problem is the woman is homeless and her sanity is questionable. And when they find the man he claims the girl is crazy. But they believe the woman. While Platt is getting ready for her wedding Roman takes over and has to do some inventory and he can't help but find some of things intelligence requested as questionable. A duffel bag is found in a park. Voight goes to check it out and finds a baby in it. He sends the baby to the hospital to be processed before being turned to the M.E He sends Burgess and Roman to get the baby but when they arrive the doctor tells them, the baby is alive. So with info from the baby's blood, the find the father and when questioned he says he doesn't know he has a baby. He claims he was with a girl who could have been a teenager. They find her and they go talk to her but she's not there. They talk to her parents and her mother is adamant that they know nothing about the baby. And refer them to their lawyer. The father tells them, they asked a woman who works for them to arrange for the baby to be taken in by a couple. They don't know who they are so he tells them who the woman is. She tells them she gave the baby to the couple but when they get there. the couple claims they never got the baby. So did the mother tell the woman to dispose of the baby but both women deny it... After a hooded man open fires on their patrol car, Roman is left wounded and Burgess takes off after the shooter, briefly losing sight of him, and shoots when she relocates him turning in her direction with a glimmer of silver in his hand. No gun has been found at the crime scene and the shooter is identified as a 17-year-old honor student who will likely never walk again due to his injuries. Protests begin as the public views the case as another incidence of a police officer shooting an unarmed African American teenager. Assistant State Attorney Peter Stone, the same man who sent Voight to prison, has been assigned to help defend Burgess and conduct his own investigation under the supervision of State Attorney Mark Jefferies. Stone and his team need to collect enough evidence to indict the teen and clear Burgess, but must tread with caution on this high profile case as tensions run high. Written by NBC

While on patrol, Lindsay and Halstead go to a reported shooting. They find an entire family killed. One of the children, a girl is still alive. She is brought to the hospital. The team learns that the father got involved with a self-help group that they think employs a pyramid scheme, They learn that another member the father recruited is not happy with them. But when they clear him, they look at their neighbors because they have gun like the one that was used to kill them. Roman awaits the results of his medical examination that will determine if he's fit for duty. Burgess is told that if and when Roman returns she will assigned a new partner as will he. The team investigates the gruesome murder of a girl. They learn from her friends she was nervous but they don't know why. They learn she worked at a law firm, so they go there and learn they think she may have been passing information on clients who were awarded large settlements because some of them were robbed. Thye later check her phone and learn she was calling Voight\s son. They try to find him and when they do he's been shot. So they wonder what was going between them. Voight learns his son saw one of his friends and asked him for money and saw him argue with a guy whom they track down. They learn he's part of the crew behind the robberies and the girl was feeding them info. The girl wanted out and Voight's son tried to help her. They set out to find the leader who killed both the girl and Voight's son. And Voight is willing to do whatever he has to.
