A potentially gloomy evening is averted when it turns out that Val's husband whom she believes has walked out on her has actually secretly booked a weekend in Paris for them but disaster soon strikes from another corner when Martin's annual oiling of the house's door hinges leads to a nasty stain on the bedroom carpet. Diversionary tactics to keep it from Jackie involve an embarrassing, impromptu trip to a restaurant where Adam fancies the waitress whilst Martin smuggles in the ailing, grumpy Mr Murray to get rid of the stain. The boys arrive to find that Martin has invited another guest, an old university friend called Tony. Sadly there were two Tonys and Martin has accidentally asked the wrong one, a fatuous bore - much to the boys' amusement. To get rid of Tony Martin lies that Grandma has died but Tony insists on staying to be helpful, and passes on the sad news to Jim, whose oven has broken and wants Jackie to cook a large fish for him. Adam arrives at his parents' house with an award presented to him for writing a prize-winning jingle, prompting praise from his parents. However this is overshadowed when Jonny turns up with Lisa, whom he has secretly married in Las Vegas, incurring Jackie's displeasure, especially at the news that they plan to live in America. After Jackie relents everybody moves to the pub with birthday boy Jim, who has mistaken the congratulatory banner for Adam for being for him and where Jonny and his new bride make an announcement. An unwell Adam has been staying with his parents for the week and Martin and Jonny are irritated by Jackie molly-coddling him. The boys set out to return Grandma's glasses to her house but disaster strikes when they get locked out of Adam's car and Adam ends up wearing only his pyjama top, demanding Jonny gives him his shirt to wrap around himself. Fortunately Jim has just passed his driving test and stops to give them a lift. Unfortunately he has no sense of direction and heads off towards the motor-way, requiring Martin to come to rescue them. Written by don @ minifie-1

It is the day of great uncle Saul's funeral and Jonny is not happy to be missing the Monaco Grand Prix for it and nobody is happy that the obnoxious Grandma Goodman has arrived, making demands on them all and likening Val to a prostitute. When she damages a cabinet Jackie delivers an ultimatum - apologize or there will be no family attendance - and even when the ceremony does go ahead Martin's eulogy and Jim's unexpected arrival turn it into a very bizarre occasion. Adam and Jonny are shocked to see a For Sale sign outside their parents' house and Jackie showing a couple of prospective buyers around. The boys see it as an act of betrayal, terming the dinner The Last Supper and when, to everybody's amazement, Jim shows an interest in buying, he ends up by wrecking Martin's car. When the couple put in an offer Jackie has a dilemma - should she be practical and sensible and sell, or put family loyalties and sentimental memories first ? Written by don @ minifie-1
