The whole Tanner family is excited to greet DJ after her summer in Spain, especially sisters Stephanie and Michelle. However, the girls feel neglected when the big surprise DJ mentioned in post cards is her new boyfriend. Upset, they wander off and follow a youth choir onto a plane that they believe is headed across the bay to Oakland, California. Only after takeoff do they realize that they are actually headed across the Pacific to Auckland, New Zealand. Meanwhile, Joey is desperate to find the phone number of a woman he met. Danny is distraught over Vicky's move to Chicago and his loneliness without her. Meanwhile, Michelle is excited to start first grade, until she learns that her best friend, Teddy, is moving to Amarillo, Texas. While Jesse's single isn't performing well on charts in the United States, he learns that it is #1 in Japan. He, Becky and the twins fly to Tokyo where Jesse is treated like a superstar, causing his ego to inflate. Jesse tries out for a job as an afternoon DJ, but is embarrassed when Joey accompanies him to the audition and tells personal stories. Joey is sidled with an obnoxious sidekick on The Ranger Joe Show, leading him to question whether he wants to continue with the program. When DJ and Steve swap I love yous, Danny is concerned about DJ's relationship moving too fast. He overlooks it at first, but forbids her from seeing Steve when her grades slip and she neglects her chores. Later, Danny and Vicky also tell each other that they love one another for the first time. Meanwhile, Jesse and Joey are set to debut their new radio show, The Rush Hour Renegades, but Jesse is drowsy from taking too much cold medicine. Written by Melissa

DJ and Kimmy are doing a program that encourages kids to stay in school, so they ask Jesse and Joey to talk about it on their radio show, but Jesse refuses. When Jesse admits that the reason he won't do the show is because he didn't stay in school, the family encourages him to finish school. Unfortunately however, when he goes back to high school, his teacher turns out to be the teacher that caused him to drop out of school. When his teacher embarrasses and insults Jesse, Jesse asks for the bathroom pass and says See ya in 10 years. When Michelle, who is learning to tie her shoes, finds out that Jesse dropped out again, she gives up on tying her shoes because she thinks ok because Jesse quit. In the end, Jesse and Michelle talk and Jesse ends up going back to night school and Michelle keeps on trying to tie her shoes, but is not successful. Written by Anonymous

Danny meets Vicki's mother, an interior designer, who redecorates Stephanie and Michelle's room without consulting him and it leads he and Vicki to argue and break up.
