Addicted informer Whistler dies from OD while introducing Paul and DEA team to paranoid major supplier Odin, yet Charlie lets him dare her to inject herself with his heroin. Mike demands that his secret FBI HQ handler explains why super-efficient Paul, whom he saw do nothing wrong, is under investigation- presumed systematic skinning of confiscated heroine. Now Mike has found out that Bello is buying Californian market-leader cartel drugs by submarine, the FBI seizes one, but the drugs have been dumped. After Bello confides into Mike as trusted 'security adviser' the load was evacuated by torpedo, he convinces the fiend to pretend it got lost at sea and steal it. To that end, Tuturro is introduced as a rogue SEALs vet mate of 'Marine' Mike. Bello considers him expendable, but Paul was prepared for everything, and discretely 'disposes of the catch', as Mike's secret FBI handler expected. Paul also helps Charlie, who is summoned by DEA HQ while still recovering from Odin's heroin, by injecting her with just enough 'hair of the dog' to stand a chance of appearing lucid. Paul keeps posing, behind his house-mate's backs, as the elusive drug baron Odin to supply Bello his stolen confiscated heroin stock anonymously by gym locker. Paul expertly sabotages the FBI operation to identify Odin by DNA. Only ingrate Charlie suspects foul play, but Paul dodges her and incredulous Johhny. When a delivery fails, another meeting with Bello becomes inevitable, he arranges to dodge the FBI gym stakeout but has to knock protégé Mike unconscious. Now Odin supplies Bello, the Caza cartel declares war on him by atrocities on his street dealers, yet he laughs away both that and Mike's warning that their dreaded hit-man, the mysteriously elusive Jangles, will come for him. That happens, but Mike chases the killer, both getting wounded, while Briggs made sure an FBI SWAT team arrests unsuspecting Bello. Jangles, who drugged Briggs as cartel captive, comes for him on the beach, where they caused the fire of the safe-house which preceded Graceland. Mike knows only about the fire being officially filed accidental and his handler Juan Badillo's conviction it was Paul's doing, ignoring that Juan is Jangles. Mike's new FBI supervisor strongly suspects Briggs of having murdered his predecessor Juan Badillo and orders Mike to prove it. Mike must go 'undercover' in jail to prove 'fellow convict' Bello, but the undaunted brute refuses any deal and orders inside cons to beat 'traitor' Mike up, while Paul hides his badly-bruised ribs. Brigs had no choice but admit to Mike that he killed supervisor Juan Badillo 'accidentally', claiming he mistook him for cartel killer Jangles, but plans to destroy the only evidence, a recording hidden in a car missing car. He confides into Jakes, who agrees to track down the stolen car in a barrio and attempt to help by distracting Mike, but he's true with trusting colleagues.
