Out of grateful loyalty to Briggs, Mike gets the whole team and Colby to elaborately prepare a plan to set up drunk Ari as the kidnapper (actually Paul) of Arlenian mob princess Layla, as if her corpse was burned. Her father Martun Sarkissian brings his smart, ambitious kin and right hand Soros, yet Briggs and Mike lead them by the nose while further winning Ari's confidence. Mike finally makes enough sense of the birds code to stake-out another cartel delivery, but it only leads to small fry Gusti 'Vin' Kadek Pendit, a cheerful naive Balinese amateur charged with some explosives plan. Johnny abuses the rivaling Caza cartel overrunning Carlito's to extract Lucia, which nearly goes wrong, and has to give her up. As Mike devises a plan to learn more about the contents of Gusti's trunk, Briggs helps Paige go undercover with the Armenian Mafia's shipping company.

Mike makes progress in his desperate search to make sense of the drugged cartel fiend's diary as lover and pills rush mate of Gusti's partner Madison Feigl, but the Graceland mates stage an intervention and threaten to his career unless he goes into rehab. Paul refuses to let the Sarkissian mob go, although his job is n the line, so he has mates stage a fake arms deal, but it's betrayed to the LAPD. Then he returns to Gusti, who wants to breakup with his crazy wife's weed-lover, but agrees to team up again, only to be kidnapped together. FBI supervisor Logan turns mean on him too and plans to nail Briggs either way. The elaborate sting to arrest money launderer Germaine Marsden fails because of a federal complication. Although insulted by the Graceland intervention, Mike goes rough cold turkey handcuffed to his bed. Briggs risks being thrown to the lions by FBI supervisor Logan, but remains committed to take down the Armenian mob. Ari's rival Toros is preparing from his tattoo and Orthodox church 'inauguration', and invites Paige at his side. Logan agreed to be captured as the supposed mole, but can't stand Ari's acid torture and betrays Paige. Paul stages Toros's murder by panicking Paige as a suicide, Ari takes his place getting tattooed and Orthodox church-installed as Armenian mob prince. Right hand Paul is told to learn all affiliated gangs, but is caught bumping the girlfriend of Vatos-big-shot Javier, so he asks volunteer Johnny to infiltrate his Soto Street gang to prevent a gang war, but boxer Javi proves a bad loser at their gym. Jakes and Charlie aim to take over Germaine's business, and she finally admits to Paul having lost his baby. Trust in Graceland is shaken ever more as Mike begins piecing together and questioning Briggs' masterly manipulation of all the cops gang. To Johny's surprised relief, the locker-room beating by jealous boxing-defeated Javi doesn't stop his mother, the real Soto gang leader, from warmly welcoming the 'hazed' Hispanic claiming to 'give boys the home they really crave', especially cooking. Mike looks desperate trying to convince the Graceland mates Briggs is playing a dirty game all along, but Paul continues, which somehow involves handing Gusti a caged bird. In Florida, Jakes succeeds intruding money launderer Germaine's business and grudgingly promises to squeeze off a seed fortune for Briggs to trap the Armenians, who are clashing with the Sotos big time.
