The villainous Black Adam battles Batman on the Rock of Eternity and unleashes a horde of Djinn determined to turn the Earth back to its pre-human, volcanic state. Affected by the otherworldly powers of these primordial monsters, Batman becomes possessed and is turned into a giant flying Batmonster laying waste to the Hall of Justice, with only Superman capable of taking the fight to the Dark Knight. One by one, the Justice League - with the help of Shazam and The Wizard- must hunt down and defeat each Djinn in order to yet again save the world from destruction.

Working with Green Arrow, Batman chases after the Djinn Uthool. When Uthool suddenly disappears, it turns out that Uthool has possessed Batman where he defeats Booster Gold, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg in his plot to have the Hall of Justice's core temperature break the Earth's mantle. After a brief team up with Batman and Big Barda in their battle against the Parademons, Superman is transported to a planet orbiting a red sun by Steppenwolf. This is part of Steppenwolf's plan to kill Superman and become a legend. Now with his powers slowly depleting, Superman must defeat Steppenwolf and get back to Earth. As Superman gives Blue Beetle, Firestorm, and Stargirl a tour of the Fortress of Solitude, they run afoul with General Zod, Faora, and an unidentified Kryptonian villain who are accidentally freed from the Phantom Zone.
