Miriam Grayson is the social worker for 9-year old Kiri Akindele, who is due to be adopted by Alice and Jim Warner. With the Warners' permission Miriam takes Kiri for an unsupervised visit to her grandfather Tobi and his second wife Rochelle but when Kiri disappears Miriam is questioned by DI Vanessa Mercer, who suggests Kiri was abducted by her estranged, violent father Nate.
