On Easter Sunday Cathy and Michael aim to clear the sitting room to make way for a new carpet but are hampered when Kelly and Jason volunteer to do it instead, believing that Michael is wrong for Cathy. The in-laws criticize everything from the dips to Derek and his children, notably weird Danielle who has arrived with her parents. Michael, who has just learned his mother has died, nonetheless volunteers to drive them to the airport whilst the in-laws grudgingly agree to take delivery of a new washing machine as Cathy has to go to work.
