A ruthless tycoon takes extreme measures to try and force an old lady to sell her property, only to discover that the obstacle standing in his way is the woman's unusual talent for gardening. A funeral home director ends up having his hands full when a vampire makes plans for his own funeral. A couple stop at a roadside diner, where they encounter a jukebox that plays only one song: a tune connected to a tragic romance that took place at the diner years ago.

A captured mermaids awakens emotions in a heartless sea captain, who struggles to keep her alive. A business-like widow goes shopping for the cheapest funeral she can find for her deceased husband. An unlikely suitor gives a mysterious fur brooch to a woman who spurned his advances towards her.

An unscrupulous man who wants the beautiful wife of another colleague pays to have an earwig placed in the husband's ear. This insect will will tunnel through the victim's brain causing excruciating pain and certain death. However, his accomplice enters the wrong bedroom and places the insect in the man's own ear by mistake.
