When a mailman is killed, the team must work with a brash, eccentric postal inspector, who believes the mailman's murder is part of a larger conspiracy. Maura continues to struggle with the ramifications of her injury, and Angela intervenes when she discovers Korsak has gotten Kiki (recurring guest star CHRISTINA CHANG) a terrible birthday present.

Jane works the case of an apparent accidental fall down the stairs of an affluent lawyer. Maura gets closer to Hope while recovering from surgery. Frankie and Nina's relationship comes to light.

Jane and Maura must unravel an old ghost story in order to solve a double murder at a hospital. Angela convinces Frankie to stop avoiding Kent and accept his invitation to a concert.

When a bicyclist appears to spontaneously combust, Maura proves his death is actually a murder; Jane is invited to teach a class of FBI recruits at Quantico.

In the 100th episode of the series, Jane risks her safety to go undercover in a county jail in an effort to acquire details from a woman believed to be in some way involved in a brutal double-homicide.

On the morning that Jane is about to testify in a murder trial, she discovers that a key piece of evidence has been stolen. BPD has three days to re-solve the crime, or else the murderer may go free. When Frankie discovers Nina is a fan of magic, he decides to learn a few tricks to impress her.

When a forensic accountant is gunned down in a park, Jane and Maura are drawn into a sophisticated Ponzi scheme. But the biggest surprise in the case is Jane's discovery that her prime suspect is someone from Maura's past. Jane also makes a life-changing career decision.

At a funeral, the casket is dropped and it's discovered that there are two bodies. So Jane and Korsak go to the funeral where the casket was prepared and they learn the other body is the owner of the funeral home. They talk to the man's sister to find out what she knows and she says she doesn't know anything. They later learn the brother was trying to sell the business without his sister's knowledge. They later find other caskets that have two bodies in them and think they might have a serial killer who uses the funeral home to hide his victims. Jane's mom learns of her plans to move away which doesn't make her happy. Tommy comes for a visit with his son and says that there are some changes. Jane and Maura work to solve two murders - one from the past and one present day - that have deep personal connections for Korsak. As everyone prepares to move on with the next chapters of their lives, Jane gets a surprise visit that might lead to romance and Maura gets upsetting feedback on her novel.

It's Jane's last day and it's also Korsak's, it seems like he's using his vacation and sick leaves to get out. They get a call about of a man who died apparently while engaged in a sex act. But Maura reveals that's not how he died. They learn the man is married to a Chinese woman who's disappeared. They learn her identity appears to be false. They learn she met her husband at a social club which appears to be where old men can meet young women.
