During the summer before senior year, Lisa gets the gang jobs at the Malibu Sands Beach Club, which is run by the tough-minded Leon Carosi, and his equally tough-minded, no-nonsense daughter, Stacey. Mr. Carosi makes Zack and Screech waiters at the restaurant, while Jessie gets a job as the receptionist, and Slater and Kelly are assigned lifeguard duties on the beach. While the gang tries to hold a surprise birthday party for Zack, he is having trouble dealing with the bossy and snobbish Stacey, who tries to keep the gang off balance from their plans. Zack attempts to get back at Kelly by making her jealous when he brings another girl to The Max to dance to his and Kelly's favorite song. But the plan misfires greatly, with Zack taking the worst of it. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang prepares for Lisa's Sweet Sixteen birthday party, first when they get angry at Kelly for dumping Zack, then when they get even more angry at Zack for the way he tries to humiliate Kelly. At the Malibu Sands Beach Club, Zack wants to purchase a 1966 Mustang that the mean-spirited Mr. Carosi owns but refuses to sell it at a cheap price. So, Zack comes up with another nefarious plan: to have the gang form their own volleyball team for an impending competition with the rival North Beach Club so Zack can win the car, but if they lose, they'll all lose their jobs. Zack hires a tall guy, named Gary, to tip the scales in their favor, while Gary shows an interest in Kelly. Later, Zack becomes a judge who must name the winner of the Miss Liberty Beauty pageant. But the major problem is, the contestants are his friends Lisa, Jessie, Kelly and Stacey, and Mr. Carosi tells Zack that he must vote for his daughter... or else. Deciding to explore his horizons for the first time since his breakup with Kelly, Zack starts dating a college girl whom he meets outside an over-18 dance club, The Attic. Since Zack's new girl hangs out at The Attic, Zack asks Screech to make fake ID's for Screech, Slater and him so that they may meet . While there, they discover Kelly's boyfriend, Jeff with a girl other than Kelly. Kelly needs to be told about her cheating boyfriend, but no one will tell her except Zack. Naturally, Kelly refuses to believe Zack when he tells her that Jeff is cheating on her. Next, Kelly demands that Zack get fake ID's for her and Jessie so that they may accompany the boys to the club to see for themselves what is going on. Consequently, Zack asks Screech to make fake ID's for Jessie and Lisa so that they may go to The Attic to catch Jeff in the act. Despite Kelly's woes, Zack hits it off with Danielle. When Mr. Carosi leaves town for the day, Stacey is put in charge of the Malibu Beach Club, and she and the gang must hold two conflicting parties simultaneously: a 50th anniversary for an elderly guest couple and a Sweet Sixteen for another girl. To make matters worse, the entire kitchen staff goes on strike and the gang must cook for both parties. After Jessie's mother remarries, Jessie's devious stepbrother Eric, arrives in town from New York City to stay and he has more than Jessie annoyed when, instead of being friendly, he uses blackmail to get what he wants from the gang, especially when he extorts money from Zack by threatening to inform Mr. Belding about Zack cutting school to go to a baseball game. Zack tries to get even with the sociopath Eric by setting him up on a date with Lisa and has him drive Mr. Belding's new car so Zack can take a photo to blackmail him. But when Eric accidentally learns that Zack tried to set him up, he makes things worse by taking the car apart.
