For a week, some students are able to take over the position of teacher to get a feel for what real teachers deal with every day. Lisa and Screech are taking over gym class, Kelly is heading up a history class, and Zack gets to play the role of principal. It's not all fun and games, as Zack finds out when he becomes the person between backing Kelly up in her teacher position and Slater as a friend and trying to give him a break. Tori Scott, a tough, wise-talking, black leather-clad transfer student arrives at Bayside and she and Zack do not hit it off when Tori threatens to undermine his seniority. But Zack and Tori are reluctantly paired with each other for a class ad project, and Tori also helps Lisa plan the school's annual Fall Ball. When Lisa receives word that a recruiter from FIT wants to interview her, the gang help her put on a fashion show at The Max. However, the close working conditions mean Zack and Lisa grow close, leaving Screech brokenhearted and bitter.

Meanwhile, Jessie worries about college acceptances, convinced she may be rejected by all of them, whereas Screech learns he has been accepted to almost every college to which he applied because of his good grades. It causes problems, however, when it seems to confirm Jessie's suspicion that Slater still has feelings for his old girlfriend, Jennifer, who has just moved to town. But his dealer turns out to be a con artist and a fake, so Zack contrives things so that Screech dresses up as Ninja Screech to help pull off a scam of their own. The school fights over how to spend the money that an alumni has left the school. Zack, Slater, Screech, Ox and the rest of the guys want the money for boys' sports while Lisa, Tori, Ginger and the girls want it for girl's sports. So Mr. Belding decides to settle the conflict by having a sports competition between the boys' blue team and the girls' red team. But Zack resorts to unethical tactics when he sabotages the girls' oven during the bake-off contest, and when the girls find out, they plan their revenge, leading to an all-out war between the sexes. Zack and Slater help along a teachers strike to avoid going to classes, but they find out that their academic championship game between the geeks from Bayside and Valley will be canceled as a result of the strike. So, Slater tries to break them up setting up a double date between Zack and J.B., and him and Tori at the movies to prevent anything from happening. Hijinks run all-round before the last dance of the school as the gang tries to raise money to hold their Senior Prom. But with the gym decorated for a play, Zack proposes a Western-themed square dance. Meanwhile, Zack tries to get Kelly to go with him as a date while Screech tries to find any date, until Lisa feels a little compassion and decides to attend with him. But things take a turn when a massive earthquake strikes Bayside, Screech and Mr. Belding become trapped in his office, while Zack and Tori get stuck in an elevator with Mrs. Belding, who goes into labor. The senior class want to leave a gift to Bayside's future students and suggest a contest to come up with a new school song. However, Zack decides to rig the competition in his favor in order to be remembered for more than just bad behavior.

In 2003, the senior class find a video time capsule buried by the gang in 1993 before graduation, and Mr. Belding, still Bayside's principal, watches it with them.

Zack finds out that he is just one credit short of graduating. So he resorts to joining the Bayside theater arts club to appear in a ballet recital with the gang to get the credit he needs to graduate. Meanwhile, Jessie worries about being chosen as class valedictorian, but Screech gets it instead.
