Cormoran is released after proving he was framed, and has an unsuccessful meeting with Donald Laing, owner of the building where Kelsey was killed. After being sent a finger in the post, Robin tracks down Whittaker and is attacked before Whittaker, who has an alibi, disappears. The police warn the couple off but Cormoran discovers that Kelsey had pictures of him at her home and Robin finds cause to suspect Brockbank.
