Specialist maxillofacial surgeons Tim and Sat prepare for the daunting prospect of a marathon operation on the face of 53-year-old patient Teresa. Just four weeks earlier Teresa was diagnosed with a fast-growing, cancerous tumour in her face and she will die within weeks unless it is removed. The procedure involves radical surgery to the whole of the right-side of the face and will result in Teresa losing both her upper jaw and her right eye. Using 3-D imaging the two surgeons carefully plan how to remove the tumour and how they will rebuild the patient's face. Tim and Sat are all too aware that this huge surgical procedure could save their patient's life but that it would be devastating to her is she were to be left permanently disfigured to such an extent that she was unable to face the world. To give Teresa the best possible outcome the team intend to fill the cavity left in her face with a section of bone and muscle taken from her hip using a 3-D printed plastic guide that helps ...
