Recently decorated for bravery police sergeant Nancy Devlin leaves her lover Kevin following an urgent nocturnal call to meet a friend's father, Frank Lesaux, who is killed in a shoot-out which leaves Nancy injured. Next day she gets a text threatening her own life, which is awkward as D.I. Michelle Newman has asked her to investigate Frank's murder, paired with arrogant Sean 'Gunner' Martin. Whilst the police identify Frank as a large scale drug dealer Nancy reconciles with his daughter Hayley but fails to stop his mistress and mother of his son Delia Bradley from a murder attempt which puts her in a coma. Hayley patches up Nancy's wound and eventually gets Nancy to admit she was with Frank when he died but agrees to keep quiet. At DI Newman's request Nancy joins Frank's widow Cherie in a public appeal for witnesses to his murder. - which is seen by Hayley's ex-boyfriend Shay Nash, a former addict who has a confrontational but pointless meeting with Nancy. More informative is Delia, who may not recover but who warns Nancy there is a leak in the team, Kevin suggesting it is Gunner. Whilst Hayley gets closer to Darryl, Frank's former driver, Nancy follows a mysterious phone call and discovers Frank's accountant, Kettler, who has been shot. Written by don @ minifie-1

Following Kettler's death suspicion falls on Frank's yard manager Duncan Elliot and Nancy and Gunner, both wary of each other, visit though he eludes them. Frank's family is split after his will is read, leaving the business to Hayley and her brother Tate, who, though in a care home, refuses to sell. Hayley is visited by Shay Nash with some disturbing news about Frank's dealings and a desire to court her again, though he is aware she is dating Tate's carer Darryl. Nancy however gets the biggest shock when, after DI Newman reveals that DNA showed Frank's daughter to be present at his murder, her hospitalized mother admits a terrible secret . Returning home she hears Gunner discussing his suspicions about her and makes an abortive search of his house. Later she finds evidence leading her to question Kevin's involvement. DCI Newman asks Cherie if she knows the identity of Frank's secret daughter but in vain whilst Nancy is forced to tell Gunner she broke into his house and admits that she thought he was a traitor. Kevin covers for her, incriminating Nash and dispelling Nancy's suspicions about his loyalty. Darryl is attacked after warning Elliot to leave Hayley's family alone, causing Hayley to believe Nash was involved, and, after learning that Hayley has asked Elliot to manage the yard Nancy puts herself forward as a bent cop to trap Elliot, unaware that he already has one very good friend in the force. Having discovered that her father knew her mother's secret Nancy accompanies Elliot's gang on its first heist and is shocked by the violence. Written by don @ minifie-1

Whilst joining the investigation into the attack on the Le Saux yard in which she took part Nancy learns that her mother had a visitor to her psychiatric hospital who answers the description of Nash though he denies it and an angry Nancy goes for him. Elliot is on the run but does a deal with Nancy that will allow him to return the truck, stolen on the night of Frank's death, to the yard. As a result the police intervene and discover the lorry's grisly contents. Nancy learns the motives of the supposedly bent officer and is shocked when Cherie tells her she knows about her paternity and whereabouts when Frank was killed. Darryl also has an admission for Hayley. Nancy is certain that Nash is linked to Frank's murder but is suspended when he reports her for attacking him. Written by don @ minifie-1

Though officially suspended Nancy suggests to Michelle that fake drugs, not guns, are the real missing cargo for which Frank was killed and breaks into the yard to gain evidence, which she does despite being threatened by Nash. She visits Tate for information on Darryl's full involvement in Frank's criminal activities, making the young ex-soldier now the prime murder suspect, but before she can warn Hayley, Nancy is taken by Nash. A stand-off on Brighton pier reveals which - if either - of the two men killed Frank with Michelle ultimately keeping Nancy's secret and Hayley making a surprising proposal. Written by don @ minifie-1
