Chrissy is dating an older guy named Lloyd, and Jack and Janet do not approve. While Chrissy is having a quiet dinner with him at the kids' apartment, Jack and Janet retreat to the Reagle Beagle. There, they encounter Mrs. Roper, who tells them that she saw Lloyd visiting earlier. When Jack asked if Mrs. Roper knows him, she said no, but then said she is an acquittance of his wife. The guys (Jack, Janet, and Crissy) needing a car offer to buy it and Mr. Roper sells it without fully disclosing to them what it's condition is. But when a used car salesman tells him that the model is a classic and he can sell it for more 10 k, Mrs Roper tells him to ask the guys top sell the car and give him a cut. Chrissy tries to impress her new boyfriend by having Jack secretly prepare a dinner that her date will think she prepared.

Chrissy goes to a bar that is known for being a prostitute hangout and is accused of being one by a guy who she was talking to. Jack tries to make her feel better but he makes things worse by constantly putting his foot in his mouth causing Chrissy to cry. When the guy shows up at the apartment Jack slugs him and knocks him out. Unfortunately, the man is an undercover cop and now Jack could be on his way to jail for assaulting a police officer. Janet's high school crush, Peter Van Horn, pays her visit. She plans a quiet dinner with Peter at the apartment later that evening and asks Jack and Janet to leave them alone for the night. When Chrissy meets him, she does not approve of his personality. While Chrissy explains her concerns to Jack at the Reagle Beagle, back at the apartment, Peter makes unwanted advances towards Janet. Jack's Uncle Fremont visits him in Santa Monica. While he respects him, Jack is weary of his uncle's bad habit of passing bad checks. Meanwhile, Mr. Roper is hounding Jack for his share of the rent money. When Uncle Fremont learns that Jack is need of $100.00 for the rent, he writes Mr. Roper a check. When Mrs. Roper asks Mr. Roper for more spending money he refuses. He suggests she get a job. She talks to Jack and the girls. And Janet says she knows of a job but Jack tells her to butt out. She calls and gets Mrs. Roper the job. When Mr. Roper learns of this he dares her to take it and she does. Only she comes home a mess and decides to swallow her pride. Jack, Janet and Chrissy are upset that they will be spending a quiet Christmas at home. When they receive an invitation to spend the holiday with the Ropers, they accept. However, the kids are later invited to a big party at a friends' home. Jack's bringing the rent to the Ropers and they are in the midst of a heated discussion. It seems like Helen is upset Stanley is not living up to his promise to bring her to Las Vegas, He says he can't afford it. . He mentions that Helen wanted this jacket they saw in a store and Jack thinks he should buy it to appease her. So he gives Jack the rent money to buy it. It's all wrapped up but Chrissy sees it and thinks it's her birthday present. When Helen sees it she doesn't want it so Roper tells Jack he needs to give him the money he gave him. Janet asks Chrissy to help her entertain a business prospect but gets jealous when the young, handsome prospect takes a liking to Chrissy.

Jack and Chrissy agree to take over Janet's babysitting job for a night. To their dismay, they are met with a crying baby, no TV, and a locked liquor cabinet.

Chrissy gets a film camera to make some home movies but the projector is put to deviant use when Larry acquires a porn movie.

Jack agrees to work for Janet in the flower shop, but he doesn't take the job seriously which causes problems in their relationship.

The roommates plan a dinner for the Ropers, but their evening is ruined when a blind guy whom Jack knew in the Navy shows up. He won't leave until Jack hits him.

A girl comes to the apartment looking for Jack she says that she's his girlfriend. Jack's not there but Janet and Chrissy are. They talk to her and she says she thinks she's pregnant. When Jack comes home, they tell her what she said. So Jack proposes to her. She brings her to the apartment to meet the girls but they say that's not the girl who came. Jack then goes to Larry to talk about the situation and that's when Larry reveals that he is the one the first girl is seeing. He sees so many girls so to make sure they don't know he's seeing them he uses different names and he used Jack's with that girl. Now Jack has to take back his proposal. Written by rcs0411@yahoo.com

The trio are coerced by Roper into cleaning the yard behind the apartment. While they are cleaning the overgrown mess Jack nearly impales his foot and Chrissy finds some strange weeds which she gives Mrs. Roper to use for the floral arrangement, which she enters in a flower show. However, Larry sees some of the leftover weeds and tells Jack and Chrissy that they are marijuana. They go to the police station but Jack, a little tipsy after drinking Roper's homemade beer, chickens out. Things then go from bad to worse when Chrissy remembers that the Helen used some of the weeds in her flower arrangement. Then then try to call Helen before she gets arrested for possession. Chrissy's father, Reverend Snow, visits her from Fresno. However, Chrissy knows her father would not approve of her and Janet living with Jack. As a result, they plan to keep Jack away from the apartment during the Reverend's stay. However, when he learns that Jack is living at the apartment, Janet tells him she is married to him. Janet has obtained two tickets to see Frank Sinatra in concert. However, she has no interest in the tickets and plan to give them away. Jack and Chrissy want the tickets for their own so they could each go with their dates. Therefore, they take turns doing favors for Janet to compete for the tickets. Meanwhile, Mr. Roper bought a parakeet for his wife as a wedding anniversary gift and he asks the kids to hide the parakeet in their apartment until the anniversary. Written by Oliver Chu

Susan Walters, an old flame of Jack's who broke his heart in the past, shows up at the apartment. Chrissy and Janet were preparing a surprise birthday party for Jack to be held at the Ropers'. Susan, unaware of Jack's birthday, tells him she showed up to celebrate. Jack wants to set things straight with Susan regarding the past, but she turns on the charm and goes out on a date with Jack.
