Adam and Erik are two identical twins living completely different lives. Adam and his wife Ingrid are making a huge success working with tourism in Lofoten, while Erik is a bum drowned in debt who is about to be caught up by his bad choices. When the twins see each other for the first time in 15 years it has fatal consequences.

Ingrid understands what she has done and realises that she risks losing both home and family. In desperation, she begins to lie about the tragedy and when the police show up she quickly winds up in a web of lies. A web Erik must either turn his back or choose to be a part of.

Ingrid tries to keep Erik hidden in the basement, but when Alfred needs help to retrieve his wrecked boat, Erik is forced to play the role of Adam. Ingrid is sought by the past, while Karin travels to Unstad to find out who her fathers deceased twin brother really was.

Erik returns to Unstad in an attempt to say goodbye to his old life. But when Karin almost drowns, he reacts completely differently than Adam would. Karin gets very confused. So confused that she gets drunk and starts spilling to the police that she thinks her family is lying about the accident.

Ingrid picks up Karin at the home of police officer Frank and discovers that Karin has come up with revelations that can have major consequences. Erik is confronted by Adams dark secrets, while Frank begins to sniff at the circumstances of the accident and gets a startling confession.

Erik confronts Ingrid with Adams dark sides and must be surprised to realise that the brothers perfect life was far from perfect. Karin struggles at school, but when Erik tries to play the role of a dedicated father, he achieves nothing but reinforces Karins suspicion that something is seriously wrong. So wrong that Karin chooses to take the matter into her own hands.
