While the press swarms around the apparent simple drunk driving collision death of starlet Olivia Hamilton, the team soon suspects foul play and elaborates. Surviving opposite driver Richard Wilkes's confession is mistrusted, as he was a deluded stalker and unlikely to pull off the ingenious traffic lights manipulation. Other suspects include Olivia's socialite steady boy-friend, Macau gambling mob heir Denny Ocampo, and Tom O'Neill, CEO of the exclusive Hollywood security company father Ocampo hired. Nick's first case as fresh-promoted supervisor is the murder of handsome, libertine Ryan Lester in the house where he runs a porn-website, a star of which found him slaughtered in the bathtub. Overzealous vigilante Harvey Wincroft helps the team investigate the rundown neighborhood, astonishingly leading to hostile goth Craig Mason, who turns out to be the adopted son of convicted judge Douglas Mason alias serial killer Paul Millander. Meanwhile Langston and Catherine work out the corpse of once casino star pianist Joseph Bigelow, subjected to an astonishing surgical gimmick, may well be the first victim of an extant serial killer. Handsome, charming IT expert Jason Devereaux's corpse is found in his car, victim of a fatal blow with a metal object, probably by someone he knew. The slick womanizer worked at a company which provides casinos with access paraphernalia. He has a record as troublesome youth. His home laptop was stolen, but Archie reconstructs his unusual interest shared especially with nerdy gray mouse colleague Paulie Krill, a jealous social outcast. Another crime is in the making. Conrad Ecklie has to worry personally how bad it will look for the LVPD when veteran white beat cop Danny Finn, who is nearing pension age, is accused by bystanders in a derelict neighborhood of willfully shooting, even again once he's down, a colored man. The plain clothes victim is identified from his wallet as sergeant Scott Johnson from the other side of the city, on drugs undercover assignment. Alle evidence seems to point at a hate crime against the only rookie who ever filed a complaint against the respected mentor, fairly recently. Vegas's extremely popular university football coach Jimmy Miller, a childless widower who lived to make a third rate team state champion, wakes up and goes trough breakfast routine until he collapses besides the paper in front of the campus security agent on account of fatal blows to the head. Nick identifies the weapon later as one of only two stolen trophies from many. In Archie's absence, Hodges finds a communications lead to quarterback Calvin Crook, the team star who wants to cash in by going pro. Greg's team works on two corpses, recently arrived prostitute Paige Hammer drowned in a car sunk in a lake, Alejandro Jiminez also wet but shot and dumped nearby. The team painstakingly works out from confusing clues the pimping web during a 'convention', including Dimitri Sadesky, Brett McDowell and his relevant relationships beyond traditional business. Nick, Greg and Hodges 'abduct' unamused colleague Henry for what they claim will reverse his history of miserable birthdays at dream barbecue Henry's Hog restaurant, way in the desert. After a long drive and a near-serious crash which wrecks the car, they find the place closed since 5 months for hepatitis hazard. Inside are the corpse of cook Gomez and a raccoon attached to his battered. They only people who turn up are the night watcher Slick and his hag driver Shirley, former colleagues and lovers, until Nick makes another horrible discovery. Meanwhile Asian Lily's help call failed to get the police in time to prevent her drowning in the bath tub of house owner Bernard Higgins, who maintains his innocence until his incurable illnesses are fatally aggravated by the stress of Brass's hostile interrogation. Small fry Juan Rivera is caught by a police helicopter in the Paiute India reserve, driving a truck with surgical waste, harvested organs and a knave's body. Juan seems the previously unknown accomplice of the elusive organ trader Dr. Jekyll, but claims to be anonymously hired by 'El doctor' for a single dump. The boy is motel night watchman Gomez's son Eduardo, and died from a surgery where bleeding couldn't be controlled. Illegal Mexican drugs point to suspected illegal 'doctor' Jeffrey Hughes. Prostitute Karen Jones (23) in a casino hotel corridor, underwear only. Greg finds her rival colleague Jillian Rose's corps is found hidden in Karen's hotel bed. Model high-school student Trevor Beck dies in his prized sports car. His girl friend seems missing, but her smashed corpse is found in a tree by a desert road. The team soon realizes its' the site of illegal drag-races, in which more kids of their high-school are involved, especially fellow auto-shop pupils, and a street gang. The team insists on investigating while the CIA wants to take over the case, and some mysterious Germans try to steal it. One of the Rascal Flatts band brothers is electrocuted, nearly fatally, on a Vegas stage trough his guitar. The team grills them on their latest row, manager Buddy and their road crew. A neighbor however seemingly went mad and is taken down by SWAT. His fury was actually manipulated by implanting radio-active pallets, custom-made for uncooperative surgeon William Byrne. He was the smart one in a gang of racist bigot school bullies. Gay intended victim Ian Jones admits having bruised Sean, but has an alibi. Investigating the murder of reporter Heidi Custer at a casino, the rest of the team is stunned to find Langston on her path over and over, who researched in his spare time her subject: serial killer Dr. Jekyll, whom she and her editor-partner believe to have escaped arrest due to Langston's alleged sabotage. Serial killer Nate Haskell enjoys extorting favors and toying with Langston in exchange for information which may help catch Dr. Jekyll. His tips prove valid, leading first to a closed Italian restaurant, then to Giovanni 'Papa' DiMasa's.
